going to this workshop would seem so strange...

I think I would rather just hang out and chat with the people I know than do all this organized stuff keeping us apart

Maybe it's just anxiety though.

I would terrify my self imagining my self going.

But sometimes I would realize how mentally sick my thinking is that's causing the fear

Not that I have enough money anyway XD

I actually like the fact that there is a workshop because it gives me a very structured way of socializing with people, where others decide what to do and when to do it, so I don't have to worry about anything, just follow the flow...

If you go... You can hide behind my back if you want to! No need to be scared!

If you would talk to your parents about this, would they be able to support you in going?

Hey Roxy, traveling could be one of the best things you could do to boost your confidence. And you won't be alone, especially not with Sandra there.

I think you'd love Las Vegas. It is the easiest place to take your first step overseas. The city basically makes its living off of welcoming visitors and making them feel comfortable. Any horror stories you may have heard about "big, bad" American cities do not apply to the tourist part of Las Vegas.

Roxy, you don't have to worry. They are not that different from you and me, those silly American

They all speak English for our convenience!

If you want to go and are scared I'll help you every step of the way. I'll pick you up at the airport, help you check into your hotel, pick you up in the mornings to go to the Workshop....

I promise you that it will be the best thing you have ever done for yourself!

He Zach, I dreamed last night that you would be there as well... so now you have to come!

(we were also singing (all of us) "Sandy" from Grease... like... Glee style... And Steve only drank Sprite Light...

Hahahaha. I've been feeling a lot better since I stopped worrying about money. The conversation between me, Unconquered, and Steve earlier in this thread really helped.

Yes, I've been getting encouragement to go from multiple sources. Also I've got a great idea for a pair of Halloween costumes. So now the challenge is to make $500+travel expenses and learn to sew in roughly three months.

How am I supposed to deal with that?

This workshop better be extremely good in the first 2 days, so I can deal with the last day!!!!!

I won't be just stepping out of my comfort zone... my comfort zone isn't even in the same universe!!! I'd have to take a space ship, travel several hundreds of light years, and then I'll be nearing this point, relative to my comfort zone.....

And that is just others being in costume.... I cannot even imagine what it would take for me to be in costume... luckily it is optional...

Also, ssandra, if you don't mind my asking, When DON'T you do the fear?

If you were to visit a movie set, would you freak out and run screaming from Leonardo DiCaprio in his renaissance tunic and tights?

If we were in a hat store and we tried on a jester's hat or a watchman's cap, do you think you would get heart palpitations?

Is it only certain kinds of costumes, like scary ones, but not sexy ones? What about sexy scary ones, like a Zombie French Maid or a Playboy Bunny Who Has Been Hit By a Car?

What about costumes on their own, with no people in them?

What would happen if you were walking down the street and you found a thigh-high pirate's boot laying on the sidewalk?

@Sandra: If you walk down the Strip on Halloween, you'll see plenty of costumed dream characters.

Maybe fear is a wrong word... extremely strong aversion might suit better The funny thing is.. this isn't a childhood thing... this started when I was around 17 or 18 I think....

Quote:

Wouldn't run away screaming, but if I could take a detour to avoid him... yes.

Now if it would be Johnny Depp in his Pirates of the Caribbean costume... I'd probably get over myself
Quote:
If we were in a hat store and we tried on a jester's hat or a watchman's cap, do you think you would get heart palpitations?
No heart palpitations, but a very strong urge to go stand outside and wait for you guys to be finished...

Quote:

All costumes, although ones that hide the face a bit more then others.

Quote:

Hmmm.... prefer to avoid them, but not as strong aversion as costumes with people...

Quote:

Probably wouldn't register.. and I wouldn't care. A mask may be different. I wouldn't step over it for example, I would walk around it... but I wouldn't be afraid or feel something very strong about it.

This is a very very funny thing that I'm only now realizing that I'm having....

Oh man, I didn't need to see all this.

I thought I wouldn't be coming back to another CGW for another year at least to give myself time to 'grow', but you all are getting me excited and wanting to come. I'd love to reconnect with all the buddies I met at CGW2 that are coming to this one and meet all new people as well. All the improvements that Steve has been blogging about each CGW has got me intrigued with how the next one will be.

I know I've kept rationalizing about not attending this last CGW for the year. It's really a big deal for me to go to Vegas since I'm all the way out east and have to leave 2 kids & bring my husband & 1 yr old with me. Considering we will have just left Vegas 2 weeks prior to this CGW from doing a trade show for our business and then coming back 2 weeks later seems a bit too much traveling to me. But I know my husband wouldn't mind tagging along this trip and would actually probably want me to take it because there's a SEMA show 2 days after the CGW that he's never been to and would LOOOVE to attend. So I'll get my PD/'woo-woo' fix and he'll get his car obsession fix all in the same trip.

This is not my final vote, but I think you'd be cute as Mexico, like this California costume:

EDIT: The image keeps changing. Apparently the website owner doesn't like hotlinking. Here's the original webpage: Cockeyed Presents: Incredible Stuff - California Costume Part 1
