Thanks for posting these Alex. They're great. I'm having trouble with my Flip in getting the movies to open in Windows movie maker. Not sure why, I've done it dozens of times and now it just ain't working.

Have you tried exporting directly from FlipShare? I use the option to export for upload to the web, but then select "Other" instead of Youtube. This creates a folder on my desktop full of .wmv files, which I can then either upload to youtube manually, or put them on a server for download.

@Erin - do you have the latest version of Flipshare? 4.1.4.50640? Mine exports .wmv files... but I believe youtube can accept mp4's. My Windows Movie Maker has always had trouble opening the mp4s as well. @KtotheB - you were always famous :-) |

YouTube might be able to accept the mp4s, but I need to edit it in windows movie maker first so I need an avi or wmv. I'll have to see if I have the latest version of Flipshare. All I knew is it used to work no problem and now it ain't. So now I'm frustrated. All this yummy goodness to share to the world and I'm blocked.

Oh great, called flip support and as it turns out I did upgrade the software when they told me it was available and as it turns out the flip software no longer converts files to wmv or avi. Keeps it as an mp4. So now it won't work in windows movie maker anymore. what a lovely upgrade. She told me that now i have to buy a conversion program to do it. Lovely... just lovely.

Try the free VLC player to convert your files to wmf/asf. It is not intuitive, but it should work. To convert select Media - Conversion or type Ctrl-r, and then later select Video - WMV + WMA (ASF). Maybe there are some other options available that would be suitable. Website: VLC media player - Open Source Multimedia Framework and Player hth Peter |

Touché Gene! I just updated a month ago, but these days that's ancient  What!!?? Flipshare won't convert to wmv anymore? Looks like I'm not upgrading! Last edited by Bing Wu; 01-24-2010 at 10:45 PM. |

I made a few vids but these are all wannabe art-house movies of some of the interesting architecture in Vegas when I was wandering around on Monday before meeting people from the workshop for dinner. No smiling faces, unfortunately, except for one movie that we made at the buddha shrine in front of Caesar's Palace before going to the Pure nightclub. YouTube - theorique's Channel -jack |
