Thursday Meetup before CGW #2

How about meeting Thursday evening before the workshop like we did for CGW #1?

zineast 01-05-2010 12:35 PM

Sounds like a great plan, count me in! :D

I'm in, when, where, what time?

zineast 01-05-2010 03:25 PM

I'm not at all familiar with Las Vegas (heck, I'm not even on the same continent ;)) so regarding "where" we should probably consult a local. Anyone here from Vegas?

Kevin V 01-05-2010 03:29 PM

Count me in as well. Since seeker5 is from Las Vegas, he seems qualified to make the decision ;).

Oh, right, didn't notice that... Have to start paying more attention :D

So, I say we make seeker5 the party squad leader. Yay!

seeker5 01-05-2010 07:20 PM

Yeah, I am a local. However, I'm actually quite unfamiliar with the setups inside the Casinos. I know for CGW #1, we met in Caesar Forum at a cafe, and while it was nice, there was talk about moving it somewhere else that may be better suited.

I'm gonna call some local friends and see what they can suggest.

Alexi 01-07-2010 03:10 AM

Count me in, if I arrive in time. :)

seeker5 01-08-2010 04:54 AM

Haven't really being able to find a better place yet than what we did for CGW #1. Maybe someone knows of a better place?

mikeschu 01-08-2010 05:38 AM

I'm in, and I also know others want to get together throughout the day Thursday for various activities.

Erin Pavlina 01-08-2010 05:46 AM

Depending on what time you guys have the meetup, I might bring my sister to it. We'll both be staying in the Flamingo hotel and checking in on Thursday so we'll be around.

I will try to think of a good meeting place tomorrow.

Is somewhere in this new CityCenter a possibility? CityCenter - Capital of the New World

Well the first question is, should it be someplace where people can buy food, or someplace where people can bring food, or just someplace to chat where we can hear each other well, with good seating, and where we won't be rousted?

The food aspect wasn't important at all at the meetup for CGW #1, so I'd go with the place to chat where we can hear each other well with some seating where we can easily move around to go and meet everyone instead of being stuck where we are due to limited space.

Decision by Wednesday morning!

Hey everybody,

I'd be great if we can agree on a time and location until wednesday because a couple of people, including myself are going on a long trip (coming from Berlin, Germany) and I'd love to join the group.

In case I get lost it would be great if somebody could PN oder e-mail me his cell phone number so I have a backup plan :-) Any chance somebody could help me out here?

Looking very much forward to the CGW #2!

Hope to meet you all at the workshop!

Chris

Food court at Caesars across from the showroom? Big, you can bring food, you can buy food, close to people staying at Flamingo...

When, more or less, would it be? I'd say a good time is 8:00-8:30PM, since most people should be in vegas by then.

Erin Pavlina 01-10-2010 02:16 PM

Last time, if I remember correctly, people started gathering at a certain time and just hung out for hours with others joining as they got into town. So it could start earlier like 6pm and go until midnight.

Bing Wu 01-11-2010 12:38 AM

The meetup for CGW 1, we met in Caesar's Palace, in the coffee shop by the food court. It was cramped! If we were to actually meet in the food court itself we wouldn't be as constrained. I don't mind going back there at all - after dinner time it's quite empty, there's a selection of food and beverage for all, and it's an informal atmosphere with seating. We may be able to put a bunch of tables together and just go from there.

Last time was a very come and go when you want activity, so it could start anytime and end anytime. People showed up all thru the evening as they were able to. And yeah, a few of us stayed all the way till midnight! Still, I was up at 7:30 the following morning, too excited for the workshop to sleep any longer :)

Hi Alex!!! *waves*

I attended CGW#1 but missed out on the pre-workshop gathering, so I'd really like to make it out to this one.

I remember there seemed to be a lot of room available at the Venetian... there was this awesome little sorbetto/gelati place that had dairy-free options. heheh. (Coconut sorbetto rocks!)

That's all I have for my 2 cents. I'll check back later to see when/where is recommended and decided upon!

YAY!

Nice to see that you're returning for CGW #2. :)

The Venetian could work, but it's a farther distance from the Flamingo compared to Caesar's, which is across the street.

The Venetian has two large indoor food courts, one inside the casino (where the gelato place is) and another inside the canal shops area. Either could work for a meetup. I think the canal shops area may have more seating, but the one inside the casino is a bit nicer.

I think Caesar's is the better location (easier to walk there), although the Venetian has more food options if people want to eat dinner there.

What Rachelle said... I was at #1 but missed the pre-workshop meetup also.

I will be in LV for the entire day on Thursday 2010-01-14 and would love to connect with people going to the workshop!

So let's make it official then. Caesar's Forum Shops food court area at 6:30pm until whenever. Put your book out on the table so people can find you or just stand there and say, "Pavlina party?" and see who responds favorably.

Patrick Ward 01-11-2010 02:47 PM

As long as my flight gets in on time, I'll be there. I'm looking forward to it.

Bing Wu 01-11-2010 03:01 PM

Excellent! The food court shouldn't be too hard to find (there are maps inside Caesar's), and all the staff should know where the food court is.

If anyone still has trouble finding us, you can call my cell at 1-613-608-8090. :)

Erin Pavlina 01-11-2010 04:17 PM

Thank you Alex for offering to be the phone point person.

Sounds good!

I'll be there! :)

Andrew Gerardi 01-12-2010 04:18 AM

My flight gets in early thursday so 'll definitely be there. I might just print out a huge picture of steve's face and put it on my t-shirt, people would recognize :p

Eloy 01-12-2010 05:27 AM

I'll plan to have dinner there. It'll be interesting looking for healthy choices there. Cheers, Eloy
