Hey all! An idea I have that I would love to do is put on a production of my solo play about working in a dead-end soul-sucking job. It's a great little one-act play. I've gotten such amazing feedback from it from past audiences, and I've gotten some pretty decent 4-star reviews too! Anyway, my thought was to present it one evening during the workshop and invite all the workshop attendees. Since it costs money to put on a production, I was thinking of asking for admission by donation... but to wait til after you see the play to determine what value the experience of my play has added to your life. I'm really excited about this prospect and performing and sharing my play for so many growth oriented and conscious people! I guess I'm hoping to find out if there would be enough interested in attending! I suppose I could even flyer random people off the strip to come and see it! I'm curious for feedback - do you think I should do this??? Would you come and see my play? |

Of course you should do this! I absolutely adore the pay-what-you-want principle and I've never seen this being done for a play so it's actually a really novel idea! You could do this practically everywhere. And I'd definitely go see it! |

Inevitably, I find that people pay more than what they'd be charged when they're asked to pay what they believe the perceived value is if it's something worthwhile. Good job, Rachelle. Trying to take us for everything we're worth, eh? Just kidding! Do it! I'll go. |

Prep time depends. There'd need to be a load-in, set-up of set and lighting cues, a cue to cue rehearsal at the very least, preferably a full tech/dress rehearsal. but AFTER that is all done, then I could probably prep the stage in a mere 15 mins. (but vocal warm ups are important!) I'd have to figure out a location. Not sure if Steve would be ok if I asked to use the stage after workshop hours.... I mean, if he made an accommodation for me that opens the door for other people wanting to do the same. | |

Hmmm. Looking into things, it seems I'd have to obtain a performers Visa. Not entirely sure how to go about doing so. But I'm also told it can take *months* to get after you apply for it, which means I probably wouldn't get it on time for the next CGW! I'm not sure what to do now. :P I suppose I could always do it at a later CGW date. Aaaaaack. |
