| I know this forum is often all about making your dreams a reality--which is mostly a good thing. The posts linked below however explore an important caveat to that concept--one we miss at our peril. 2Weeks2aBreakthrough: More on Giving Up (This is a rather round-about path to the original article, but I think the journey helps bring the point home in ways the direct path misses)

| I think you are right. It's also being able to differentiate between the reality of what you want in your life and the symbols or indicators of that reality. A potentially helpful metaphor is unexperienced actors. When people act in their first play and their character is asked to express an emotion, they often "indicate" the emotion in stereotypical ways-- rubbing their eyes to indicate sorrow/crying, big laughs to indicate happiness, etc. But good actors understand the real motivation behind those emotions and can re-create them in real ways. I think the parallel in personal development is to make sure your depth of understanding about your dreams and goals match the good actors understanding of the intricacies of human emotion.
