Default Acquiring patience

I decided to put this here because I feel patience is a very important character trait to have and it's something I'm trying to develop.

So my question is how is patience developed? I've been researching the subject and haven't found too many resources. I've been trying to just do what I think would help me and I think I've been making progress but I still need a little help.

Anyone have any ideas?

Just ask the universe/God for patience and plenty of opportunities for cultivating it will come your way. No joke.

Good luck.

Hehe, I didn't realize how quickly I responded.

But, yes, when I asked for patience I was immediately tested in that area. I am sure you will get some other practical advice here as well. The people on the board are pretty smart.

Patience is cultivated by accepting and living in the present. If "now" is fine, there is no rush to a future we speculate will be better.

hmmm that's an interesting thing to bring up. I never thought of it that way and it makes sense.

Developing any habit or skill takes practice and ironically enough patience itself.

It takes time, effort and application. Whenever you catch yourself trying to rush, be short with someone, or want something immediately - take a deep breath and slow down. Be deliberate and acknowledge the moment.

As Alchemiss pointed out living in the present helps!

Good luck!

I think patience is worked into your character over time, I've noticed the older I get the more patience I am developing... maybe even associated with wisdom, I like the effects from having patience, there is a steadfastness to it, a calmness and I love it......

I watch my hubby who readily admits he has no patience, and he suffers much because of not having patience, irritable, anxious and all the negative stuff that attributes to heart , blood pressure issues, he also admits he likes control.. maybe they go hand and hand

The above is very true. I had very little patience until I had children, then I learned quickly! It was one of the greatest gifts the Universe has ever given me. I enjoy life sooo much more now!
