| Ok, went to school A got 24 credits. I'm not going there as of now and stopped to save up money to finish General elective credits at a local community college. The transfer to the CC is aimed to increase the gpa and get at least 30 for credit transfer. Ok, transferring to school B will be for a Russian Major. However, since there might be a year gap, one semester off to work and one at CC, I will hopefully be able to get to an intermediate level and get out of 12 credits, best case scenario. I also find out that I will need to also demonstrate proficiency in a second language either through testing or up to intermediate courses. Again it would be nice to work on a language and opt out of that also, but depending how my russian progress is I'll have to see. But I know that language knowledge alone might not be enough to secure a position. So I was thinking it would be best to get a double major or just minor in another field? This is were I need some advice from any language majors, but I guess others can offer their input too. For now... |

| It might be worth contacting the department and asking them for examples of jobs you could get. Or for lists of alumni and where they ended up.

I guess I'm just wondering, what is more effective a double major or a major and two minors? I guess I'm skeptical about the abilities of the minors to get me into the fields at all. I realize that I should talk to an advisor about this, which I plan to after I go back to college. Although, I do realize that the future is rather unpredictable and that I might be in a completely different field from now 10 years done the road. |
