With the latest discussion revolving around Anarchy - I wanted to introduce the concept of a Social Memory Complex to the forum and see if interesting conversation can be initiated. I was reading quite a few mixed interpretations of the word 'Anarchy' and I personally support the dictionary version. Although some of the ideas people were bringing up, in my opinion, deserve greater attention than that given to it through use of the word 'Anarchy. A link to the Free Online Dictionary definition of Anarchy: here It has a similar relationship (in my opinion) to the concept of "The Dark Night of the Soul", at a personal level. Wikipedia article is here. Change is always chaotic and growth stages are always accompanied by the unknown as we make our journey up each plateau of life (look at Spiral Dynamics for an introduction). However, this may be better reserved for another discussion - I want to introduce the idea of a Social Memory Complex which addresses the idea of a 'society' or 'community' of people that draws cohesiveness not necessarily from leadership - but from each individual entity, a holistic community that derives its 'communal' status from the holistic evolution of each individual. This would be an individual's and a community's true potential. The inspired potential, movement, or growth of an individual creates a harmony with those around it doing the same thing - Galaxies work in a similar matter (Freudian slip), through the expansion of each planetary body (yes my idea of cosmic evolution is different from today's science, it works on fission, not fusion) the entire Galaxy as a whole is kept in an elegant balance. The inner society of a human (the psyche) and the external society of a human (the environment) can and sometimes does work in a similar fashion. Does this mean ambition, drive, leadership, strength, and the 'Alpha Male' need to cease? No. In my opinion that would be the opposite, turning a community into a colony of Ants that follow blindly without any individuality. It would be the opposite, people engaging in proactive volition and action towards their aspirations is the ultimate 'harmonizer' amongst entities. In a sense I am talking about elitism, not merely within a community but an elitism that is within the individual - an elitism that says, "Only these specific ideas, these thoughts, these conceptions of myself that I choose, are allowed to exist and evolve within me." Does this mean everyone must be Arnold Schwarzenegger? Absolutely not! Diversity is key in this whole idea! Diversity with purpose, not diversity in the sense that one Cow has a different set of spots from another Cow. The Cosmos is always my greatest example - I am always in awe of its raw unrelenting power and of the beauty it creates. |
