Smile Positive Reward and Recognition

Positive psychology shows that focusing on values and strengths and on positive role models really helps increase measured levels of happiness. Marty Seligman recommends in his book Absolute Happiness, that people write and send out to people Gratitude Letters as a way of increasing happiness. This new site I've come across provides a new way to do social reward and recognition and is like an advanced form of Gratitude Letter. You can go and read some amazing personal profiles. For example read Dr. Happy's profile at the1000best - Nominated as 1 of the1000best and Jan Roberts profile at the1000best - Nominated as 1 of the1000best These are inspiring people and made me feel really uplifited. Leave a trib for them and give them a boost. Its like a positive psychology exercise in increasing happiness.

I agree, letting people know you appreciate them adds joy to the world. One thing I did recently was to call some restaurants I'd been to and let them know that I really liked their food, or that there was a waiter who'd been especially helpful. People seem surprised because there not used to receiving the recognition, but I think it's all helpful.

Reading your post has brought to mind this powerful quote,

"When dealing with people, let us remember we are not dealing with creatures of logic. We are dealing with creatures of emotion, creatures bustling with prejudices and motivated by pride and vanity." -- Dale Carnegie

Most people take great pride in seeing themselves as being very "logical"... ...however the truth is that, most of us are mostly driven by emotions... that is not negative... it's just a fact that we should keep in mind...
