The 3 P's of Happines, Pleasure, Passion and Purpose

Just came across this piece of research that says happiness lasts the shortest when you pursue pleasure, it lasts a lot longer when your doing your passion and it seems to last the longest almost like a continuous underlying prescence when your fulfilling your purpose or contribution. What do you guys think about this?

i'm not sure if someone said that because it sounds cool or someone thought truly about it. for example when people, through meditation, reach "nirvana" or whatever other "pleasure state" then they are experiencing which is often referred to as "bliss" and they are happy for a long duration because this is not caused by chemicals or objects

Yeah, that makes sense that pleasure, passion & purpose have varying longevity degrees of happiness.

Pleasure seems to be spontanious & sometimes future consequences are not considered. Yet, it's fun!
Passion - is when a pursuit is meaningful & exciting to us, we've invested something based on hopes.
Purpose - is when something is not only meaningful & exciting to us, but we have a deeper sense of commitment - so that even if our hopes are disappointed, we still find purpose.

I'm not sure that I agree that passion and purpose are separate. I think passion is a clue to what your purpose is.

But otherwise, I'd say the longevity observation is right on. :-)

Yes!! Find out what you true gifts and longings are and also your limitations. Live according to them. Within your "nature" find a way to make money as our bodies need food, clothing, shelter, etc...., and then your work is your joy.

When you hate your work, your mind is always present whining and moaning and that steals your joy.
