It's Life. It's what helps me breathe and brightens my world. It's what I live for. Cliched as it is, this is how it is. Everything I see is a work of art and so am I, so therefore, art is life. |

I always wanted to put together an exhibition that asks that question and lets people vote on it. Everything from Yves Klien to baroque to Elvis on velvet. I think it would make an interesting discussion. I can see you like highly subjective topics Ken |

It can inspire others, but I wouldn't say that is necessarily the intent behind creating art. It depends on the artist of course. There are many artists who do exhibit and paint for the world to see...and some who paint just for them and don't want to share. | |

Defining art is like trying to tell an alien who has never seen a tree what it is with words. Words are only handles to carry the idea of something from one person to another--not the thing itself. Better to point and say "Tree." On this forum, however, we only have words, so I say art is an interpretation of life, the greatest art of all. Photographs, for example, are sometimes identified as NOT art. Some are not, but some capture a moment so poignantly, with so much artistic perspective, I stand there in awe, wondering how the artist captured so many things going on in a still picture. Art is not a noun--it is a verb... --Bill |
