It's Life. It's what helps me breathe and brightens my world. It's what I live for.

Cliched as it is, this is how it is. Everything I see is a work of art and so am I, so therefore, art is life.

Art is expression. How that expression takes place is subjective.

I always wanted to put together an exhibition that asks that question and lets people vote on it.

Everything from Yves Klien to baroque to Elvis on velvet.

I think it would make an interesting discussion.

I can see you like highly subjective topics

Art is the amplification of beauty. An image that arouses the mind and emotion of the percipient whom views an object to what they perceive and feel as to be beauty.

Art is purely social. In its creation, it's a short-lived burst made to inspire others. Over time, it becomes a reference point for more art.

I disagree. Some of the more prolific artists in history painted alone and never exhibited. They painted for themselves, and no one else.

It can inspire others, but I wouldn't say that is necessarily the intent behind creating art. It depends on the artist of course. There are many artists who do exhibit and paint for the world to see...and some who paint just for them and don't want to share.

Art is the medium with which we convey the subjective.

Obviously, that's just what it means to me.

Art is the exploration and expression of who we are, as a society, and as individuals.

It's also wicked awesome. Most of the time.

Art is one of many forms of communication. It communicates directly, sometimes, but more often in abstractions. Some art is telepathic

Defining art is like trying to tell an alien who has never seen a tree what it is with words. Words are only handles to carry the idea of something from one person to another--not the thing itself. Better to point and say "Tree."

On this forum, however, we only have words, so I say art is an interpretation of life, the greatest art of all. Photographs, for example, are sometimes identified as NOT art. Some are not, but some capture a moment so poignantly, with so much artistic perspective, I stand there in awe, wondering how the artist captured so many things going on in a still picture. Art is not a noun--it is a verb...
