Default Ways to help others?

I made the decision last year to quit my job and pursue a business venture. However the nature of my business means I am stuck indoors staring at my PC screen on my own.

I would like to have more human interaction and I also have burning desire to help other people in some way.

Can someone please suggest things I could do, like volunteering etc? I can spare some evenings and weekends but need most of the day time to work.

Thank you

Ask a random person if there is anything you can do to help them.

I read a book once that said to answer 3 questions.

1. What do you love to do?
2. To whom do you feel drawn to lend a hand?
3. Is there something that speaks to your heart?

And with the answers to those questions log on to

Doh, sorry. Maybe you could do a google search and see if there are any similar sites for the UK.

I have done, there are sites out there but nothing has really taken my fancy, I was kind of hoping to hear from others who have been in my situation and found something.

I am volunteering at my local hospital - there's loads of opportunities there. You'll be amazed how doing little things for people - bringing them books or newspapers or cups of tea etc.. can brighten their day. Sometimes, patients just need a little interaction with people other than their doctors and nurses.

I got into it, partly because I'm thinking I might quite like to have a paid role in the hospital, but also on the back of my experience of seeing my father last year.

Old people are worthy of our respect (even if we feel they seem to be a little ackward or cantankerous), and there needs to be dignity in death and dying, for all of us.

That was my personal motivator - good luck finding yours

Can you hire someone and work together? Become entreprenuer from bein self employed, it is very satisfying. Even for part time or couple of hours .. even college or school kids. There are petty works in every business. Support a poor student that way?

1. How many languages can you command? - Find others more, & enlarge your opportunities to communicate...

2. You know how to read. Many do not have this valuable skill.
Find someone who can't read, yet, & help them become successful in it.

3. Do you know how to build shelter, or even a house? - Learn how..., & help someone else build theirs.

4. Learn how to propagate blooming plants, & teach others how to cultivate them

5. How many people do you know who are sad. - Learn
the skills & art of healing, & when skilled in such, help someone heal, & even further develop.

Have fun... empowering others.
