Default Changing Education Paradigms

RSA are great at informing people about lectures in an awesome way- they use company called Cognitive Media to make the graphics.

YouTube - RSA Animate - Changing Education Paradigms

This allows us to challenge education in a new and profound manner.

Whats your view on the changing paradigm?

Keep it the same....change it?

And more importantly, HOW to change it?

Those that have kids, whats important to you?

I've only seen a couple of these talks, but like TED talks, I think they're great. Interesting, fresh and informative.

There is another thread (up to 3 pages at the moment), which started with this clip. It's gone into the direction of homeschool Vs teachers (I've not helped ), so I'll try to start this thread off more productively.

I think what Ken says makes utter sense. He's clearly done his research. My concern over implementing it would be that it is so radical, that IMO it would need to be done by someone who is not a teacher. They would need to ignore so much of what they 'know' that I don't think a teacher could do it. They certainly wouldn't be the best person for the job.

I would suggest a collaboration, headed by the people at Education Otherwise. Our previous government was hell bent on micromanaging homeschooling to the extent that it would have ruined all that was unique about it. The strong argument, carried with a strong undercurrent of common sense and applied intelligence really impressed me. In this case, I think they were fighting a losing battle, because the government had already decided on changes before they even started.

If I were in charge, I would get them to do it. I think they would ace it.

Oops....Didn't see that. Might as well let this one die and contribute to that one. After reading through a lot of it what I had thought had already been discussed

Thanks for letting me know, and mods feel free to delete this thread

Nah, don't bother. It's just been ignored anyway.
