One way or another I'll retire this username within the month so before that happens I'd like to explain why I chose it.

2009 was an odd year. It began with me nestled in the arms of a woman I thought I'd never leave (though "girl" would be more fitting) and for the first time I was excited at the prospects available to me. By year's end I had nothing left except ambition and with that held tight in my hand I resolved to build anew.

I needed something to affirm that. Illustro is latin for illuminate and Cado is latin for fall, or so I'm told by the internet. It didn't matter; it meant something to me. "The end of ignorance." I imprinted that phrase onto my subconscious and thought of Illustro Cado as a magic spell which, in time, would release me from the shackles of my self-imposed restraints.

Even the avatar I used (which is also my current one) echoed this theme. The character, Zero, is the alter-ego of the protagonist in Code Geass. Lelouch was of royal blood and worked under that name to avenge his and his sister's exile and bring the corrupt empire to its knees. To me, the most important aspect is zero-the point where creation and destruction are one in the same, where everything you can be is manifest at once and you've only to choose which path to follow.

In the time since, I have. The man writing this is not the one who registered this name, though he is in a similar position-starting at zero. I realize no matter where I am in life or what I've accomplished there will always be moments I return to zero.

So here's a toast to my former self, you magnificent bastard.

This recent spate of ID swapping fascinates me... I just hope my own growth never requires dropping the Wax Frog label, as it's always been a fun one

It is good to move on. If changing the avatar helps you, go for it.

Finally caved and started watching Code Geass recently. Good series, though in some respects it's almost too similar to Death note.

It was wierd to see your avatar appear in it

Do you identify with Zero in any way apart from the name?
