Hello. I have been feeling very apathetic as to what I should do with my life. At the moment, I am a 2nd year student studying Japanese in London, England. Next year, I will study in Japan for a whole year as part of my degree. As for the moment though I have lots of free time and I want to make use of it. However, I just do not know which direction I should go. I often think about starting a blog teaching people how to learn Japanese. I also may add information about traveling in Japan, since I have done a lot of it myself, and many other aspects of Japanese life and culture. However, something inside of just tells me that it won't work, EVEN THOUGH I HAVE NOT TRIED IT YET. |

Find a tarot card reader and in your area and go to them and ask them what you should be doing with your life. You'll get a good perspective on where you hidden talents lie. It might even be good to learn to read tarot cards yourself... there are books out there that can teach you. Do some searches you'll find them.

You could teach ESL classes to Japanese people, or even JSL classes to English-speaking people, but that would probably get tiresome and be a real drag after awhile. Write Japanese poetry or something...when I took Spanish, I had to write poems, so I made really funny poems in English and translated them to Spanish and although I didn't sell a book or anything, my poems were well-received by the Spanish community, if only for their humor.

I say do the jap blog, because you have free time, and blogs can be really casual + you enjoy the topic and it won't seem like work. There will be plenty of people interested in the subject as well! I say DO IT! Message me if you want any help with anything! I've just started up a blog because I wanted to! Dom |

When you say something's telling you it "won't work", what do you mean? That you won't enjoy it? Or that you won't be successful? If you think you'll enjoy it, then do it anyway. You'll be providing a service to others and improving your skills at the same time, regardless of whether it's successful or not. |

Since you seem to have a deep connection to Japan, I am wondering if you still feel apathetic today, after the tragedy that has struck? I know you weren't apathetic to Japan, but to your career. I just wonder.... has anything awoken within you now?
