Default Life's little lessons

I've been trying something new for the past couple of days. Whenever I encounter a profound life lesson, I write it down on a list that I view daily.
It all started with the notion that you can't trust your future self to do the right thing. So as of right now, I know that certain things lead to good results. A lot of these things are old news and yet, I rarely apply them when I should. Sadly, it's because I forget about them. I will have a major realization and three weeks later, it's gone. Back to the same old routine.
So far I've got five daily lessons and I'm going for ten. Once I hit 10, I'm laminating it and putting it on my nightstand for daily viewing. What's your trick for keeping these things in your consciousness? I think that eventually, it will become habitual but until then, I have to find a way to keep it in the foreground.

Are you online a lot? If so - you could make a screensaver or have them scroll across your screen (at least on a PC). Is there an appointment reminder feature you could use that pops up at pre-set intervals that reminds you to take a look at your daily lessons?

Just a few thoughts...

I do actually write lessons of great importance down on occasion. My most common method is to give the lesson extra thought and forge it into my subconscious by means of emotion as a catalyst. Thought+Emotion= nearly impossible to forget. And if I do forget I know that the lesson has helped shape my mind and thereby my behavior.

I write them down in my notebook as well as in a Word file on my computer. I don't always implement those ideas unfortunately but usually a good idea makes me very emotional and enthusiastic so I include it my next day's task list immediately.
