what does it mean to you? what are ways in which you build your integrity?

to me integrity is my internal support structure, like how steal beams are the support for a skyscraper, and the stronger my integrity is, the harder it is to knock me down.

i try to build my integrity by doing as much good as i can.

for example, the other day as i was walking my dog in the morning, i passed by a stranger laying beside the sidewalks on some grass, i asked him how he was doing and he said he was injured and all day long people have been walking pass him like he wasn't there, so i decided to give him a helping hand. i remember at first sight, he seemed angry and frustrated and i hesitated to help him, but after i had assisted him, he had a look of relief on him. it took alot out of me because i dont really consider myself a helpful person but i try to do as much as i can and sometimes i forget so its really an ongoing process.

another way i build my integrity is voicing my opinions even if its against the majority of the peoples opinion, its hard and feels weird being singled out but after a while, i got use to it and now its whatever to me.

im still looking for ways to build my integrity because im still at the beginning of my personal development journey so im looking forward to hearing your thoughts and opinions on this subject.

I try to stay true to my own values and beliefs, that way you're more likely to live the life you want to.

Integrity.... = being honest. Telling the truth even if you will suffer because of it.

can a liar still have integrity? sometimes i lie and i dont feel bad about it, its no big lies, mostly white lies, and sometimes i lie to get out of a bad situation, but i only tell the truth when it really matters

Otherwise, I usually hold to dictionary definitions.

Integrity is shorthand for "character integrity." Integrity itself means, "a sound, unimpaired, or perfect condition."

So then, "soundness of character." A good sound ship's hull doesn't let water in and provides a measure of defense against logs, sandbars, ice. A good sound character provides a defense against laziness, fickleness, artifice. It does not disintegrate when it hits obstacles. It holds up under stress and doesn't resort to telling lies or getting defensive. Someone with integrity can be relied on. When you hand a task to someone with integrity, you know he's going to get the task done as a matter of course, his pride will allow no different. And you can believe him if he fails and cites outside circumstance.

In a world filled with fools, charlatans, and thieves, a man with soundness of character is a rare pleasure, because you can relax around him.

To have integrity is being a man (or woman) of your word. It means having a solid value system. It means being honest.

Mike, you tell the truth anyway. And if you can't keep a promise, you come clean about it as soon as you know you won't be able to keep it.

More than anything, I think Integrity is about holding up the priorities of your own values.

If you lie to save someone's life-and you value their life more than the lie-I think that's still an act of Integrity.

If you let someone die because you can't get yourself to lie, even though you value life more than honesty, that's a failure of integrity.

In the special case of voicing your opinions against the majority-this is just holding up your personal values above peer pressure. But there are times when your personal values will clash-and Integrity is the ability to take action towards your most important values.
