Okay my story is very long and I will cut it short. I really wanted to be an entrepreneur. I quit my job and started my own software firm only to close it after 3 months. Because I completely lost interest in software industry. Because my degree was based on computers and software I went in that direction but failed miserably. Next,I thought of starting a youth magazine but dropped that idea very soon. Next I thought of starting an apparel company. I thought I had great passion for it. I really had a great passion at that time but now it seems it's fading away. I registered my apparel company but did nothing apart from that. Now I have got another idea of a website. I really do not know if my passion will last long for this. But right now I am really really interested in that. Also I am in a position to seek a job again in software development to support myself temporarily. I hate it to the core but I have to do it for money. I would like to do something really great but I am in a constant fear of failure. I do not know if I should start working on my website idea. In the past I have done a lot of things only to know they were really stupid after trying them. I want to go big, really big. But something's going terribly wrong and I feel I am in the wrong path. I strongly believe I can do incredible things if I find the right path. I do not know what to do. Also I am feeling so down and inferior because I haven't done anything remarkable in life. Do you have any suggestions??? |

I think you're just being torn apart but your search for "passion". How about calming down and thinking through at least some plan? Don't try to go "big" right away - be realistic, at least in the beginning. You want a website? Fine. What website exactly? What's the business model? What's the target audience of that website? Sounds boring, I know, but that's the only way to get of that situation of yours. Otherwise, you'll be doomed to forever looking for "passion" that will fade away within a week. |

I'd say, get a job if you're not passionate about anything. And if you're somewhat passionate but not enough to start your own business, get a job related to your passion. Running a business isn't for everybody. |

Hello Blacko, how are you? Are you afraid of commitment and possible failure? It sort of seems that way from the way you just keep jumping from one thing to another. I don't think we can intellectually 'arrive' at our passions. We can make a list of things we like and weigh the pros and cons of each possibility to make an educated guess on what will work. But ulimately, I think 'passion' is something that grows within us. IN my first year of university, I only had a vague idea that I liked sociology. My passion for sociology only grew once I took 4 years of undergraduate work in that field. In order to find (or is 'create' a better word?) your passion, I think you would have to finally choose one possible career goal and make the commitment to follow through with it. IT is the attitude we take that really determines whether or not the choices we make will be successful or a failure. Otherwise our interests will remain as superficial interests. Having said that, there is nothing wrong with finding a job in order to make expenses until you have found something that your are ready to make a commitment for. |

Do you have passion in DOING those things or is it just that you think you feel 'passion' when you think of success, acheivement and 'going big'. Start doing the things you enjoy doing and the rest will unfold beautifully Or probably you can't stick to ONE thing, most people are passionate about one thing but there are others who simply feel dead when they restrict themselves to one 'passion'. They are called scanners Are you a scanner?. |

Blacko, you are such a lucky guy! You have plenty of ideas and you want to do and to try things. Think about this for a moment, you are already quite far due to your commitment to do something and to find your way. Try to be grateful for all the ideas that you have. Thank them each in turn, something like "Hello, idea! So nice you popped up into my mind! Thank you for visiting me!" Then develop confidence and trust in yourself and your skills. Tell yourself "I am capable of achieving all that I want". Ask yourself for help with implementing those ideas. Something like "Hello brain, hello soul! Listen I have this business idea, could you help me understand if this is a good idea. And if this is a good idea, could you give me some hints on how to implement it. Also, could you please give me signs when things go right or wrong? Thank you, brain, thank you soul!" Then observe and listen to what goes around in your world. I am sure in time you'll be proficient at implementing all ideas that you have |

You tell em! Stay open to all that comes into your mind, and ask your mind what to do with it. Answers will come, but it's a long process

However, what if you find your passion and it's nothing ''big'' (big in terms of how you think of it now), like..mmm, I don't know...gardening? Of course, I'm sure gardening could go big too As Goddess said, you're lucky you have many ideas and you want to try things. I think you're looking for passion in terms of a specific ''job'', but how about trying to find out what lies underneath it, what is a common denominator in all your attempts so far..is it being creative, building something from scratch etc'. Once you figure that out , you'll find that you can express it in many different ways/jobs and not only one. I've also read many people do that exercise ''find your purpose in 20 min'', (haven't tried it) maybe it can help you? And how about you stop looking for it, I think it creates a lot if pressure, maybe adopting a more relaxed attitude about it would help you see and notice things you haven't noticed before. Even if you have to accept a ''regular'' job for now, you can always work on something on the side, that way you don't have a financial pressure that your business needs to start making profit immediately. And as you explore different things I'm sure you may find a passion for something you didn't even dream of. I've also been thinking about finding my passion, and the thing is why only one? Maybe in the next 5 years it's one thing and then something else. Well, good luck.

You might be a scanner, you already read my article, I really recommend Barbara Sher's book, it'll clarify a lot for you. There might also be other things blocking you, alternatively, or additionally. For example the pressure you put on yourself about going big and doing incredible things. Sometimes, our path looks a lot less spectacular than that at the beginning, but the baby steps require a lot of inner strength. Maybe you also have some block on your third eye, which prevents you from seeing the truth of your path and of who you are. It's like going around blind. This was my case, and I kept searching and searching for the right path for years until this block was removed. Then I found my path and started my practice. You also probably have some limting beliefs and negative mental or emotional patterns, like your fear of failure. You'd need to let go of them if you want to relax into taking persistent action. Sending you love and fulfillment. Thanks Closer.

Just couple days ago my friend eluci read my passion for business and entertaining. I can't believe that i can be a good broadcaster and can handle any big show. Through this realization i am realizing more that money is just neutral and it flows through me every time.

I also agree about Barbara Sher- I have many of her books Blacko-I had a tough time for awhile with this passion thing but what I discovered -only recently-is that I can be passionate about something and not want to necessarily make a career of it so although I am still redefining what one may call a career I cont. to indulge my passions so stop being so hard on yourself and don't look at it as failure-success look at it as learning and learning some more so action plan - read the book recommended and let's see what you think afterwards ! |
