| I am not a smart man, particularly, but one day, at long last, I stumbled from the dark woods of my own, and my family's, and my country's past, holding in my hands these truths: that love grows from the rich loam of forgiveness; that mongrels make good dogs; that the evidence of God exists in the roundness of things. This much, at least, I've figured out. I know this much is true. --Wally Lamb, I Know This Much is True |

Two recent ones: From a single man who has no arms or legs, talking about his future wife: "It's ok if I can't hold her hand. I'll be holding her heart." and... From Gordon Smith, psychic medium: "You can't die for the life of you!" |

Love this one... "Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, martini in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming - WOO HOO what a ride!" - Maxine cartoon |

One quote that really made me laugh because it caught me unawares came in the show My Name is Earl. I'd never seen it before and I wasn't really watching it anyway as I was on my laptop but then I heard this line... "Are you sure you want a love poem with the word 'cartilage' in it?" Here's some of the transcript to put it into some kind of (mad) context... The holidays were a time of hope for Randy, too. He was finally going to make his move on Catalina. |

"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us.' We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be?" Williamson, Marianne |

It's impossible to choose one. The least I can give you is three. 1. “Don’t be discouraged. It’s often the last key in the bunch that opens the lock.”~ Author Unknown 2. “I think and think for months and years. Ninety-nine times, the conclusion is false. The hundredth time I am right. ”~ Albert Einstein 3. “The man who removes a mountain begins by carrying away small stones.”~ Chinese Proverb |

The sleeping bag, a poem. On the outside grows the furside; on the inside grows the skinside. So the furside is the outside, and the skinside is the inside. One side likes the skinside inside, and the furside on the outside. Others like the skinside outside, and the furside on the inside. If you turn the skinside outside, thinking you will side with that side, then the soft side, furside's inside, which, some argue, is the wrong side. If you turn the furside outside, as, you say, it grows on that side, then your outside's next the skinside, which for comfort's not the right side. For the skinside is the cold side, and your outside's not your warm side. And two cold sides side by side are not right-side when side to side! If you decide to side with that side, turn the topside furside inside. Then the cold side furside skinside, beyond all question, inside out! (Herbert Ponting F.R.P.S.) |

"By the power of truth, I, while living, have conquered the universe". "All that is gold does not glitter Not all who wander are lost The old that is strong does not wither Deep roots are not reached by the frost From the ashes a fire shall be woken A light from the shadows will spring Renewed shall be blade that was broken The crownless again shall be king" "When an entire world changes there are no innocent bystanders. Only those who turn the wheels and those who let them be turned." --D. Fetterman “The Most powerful fighter is an ordinary man with laser precision focus.” Last edited by Cado; 10-30-2010 at 09:11 AM. |
