| Reading the life stories of people who have overcome personal adversity to accomplish great things in their lives is a great way to get in touch with your values and life purpose. Can anyone recommend any good biographies? I'm particularly interested in - musicians, entrepreneurs, and world leaders. Thanks.

| I like John Wesley's choice of Gandhi. Indira Gandhi is another good one. His Holiness the Dalai Lama -The Oral Biography (2005)-by Hart-Strober & Strober Sir Edmund Hillary - An Extraordinary Life (2005) by Alexa Johnston You can scan this article and decide if some of Time's choices would also be yours: The TIME 100 | The People Who Shape Our World Once you isolate specific individuals of interest, you could search out biographies (if they exist) |

| Left To Tell - by Immaculee Ilibagiza is a remarkable story by an ordinary woman. For 91 days during the Rwandan genocide she hid with 7 other wom- men in a bathroom not large enough for them all to stand. She lost 40 of her 115 pounds but she lived and she went on to thrive. She envisioned her husband and then met him. She envisioned her job at the UN and got it. I prayed for God to guide me, and then I looked for the postion I wanted at the UN. Once I knew where I wanted to work, I visualized that I already had a job thh\ere, using the same technique of positive thinking I'd always used: believe and receive! I went to the UN Website, printed out the directory that listed the employees' names and titles, and then added my name to the list. I even gave myself a telephone extension! I tacked the directory onto the wall and looked at it every day. Of course, I also filled out an application, submitted a resume, and made follow-up phone calls but so had more than a thousand other people. I kept looking at my directory, believing that the job was mine, and I prayed every day until my phone rang. Sure enough, I was short-listed out of hundreds of other applicants and was offered the job after I went in for an interview. I've never ceased to be amazed by seeing God's power at work! |

| I just finished Sam Waltons (Walmart) book. It is a great read to start. Sam was just another 5 and Dime store in a small town, he improved it, grew, and through hard work got to 5 stores in the area, then improved it some more got it to 15, then was faced with competing well or facing destruction by opposing chains - so he went out and did it better. A man who started a small business and prospered to one of the biggest companies in the world - amazing story of sheer determination and personal involvement

| I am reading Mickey Flatley's ( creator of Lord of the Dance) biography. I find inspirational quotes everywhere in this rags to riches story. Admittedly, I found him cheesy before, and was not a particular fan of his creations ( I tend to shy away from shows that are hyper- mediatized ), but I am being inspired by his life story. |
