Simple awareness exercise that I love
Was going for a hike a few weeks ago with a buddy and we were in the bathroom together and chatting. I've typically used electric hand dryers in the past when there's a choice because I don't like wasting paper unnecessarily. However, he told me he doesn't use anything...just wipes hands on pants or air drys...because ultimately both using paper and using a hand dryer is using energy and after all...it's just water. It will dry.
So this is such a *minor* thing but at the same time it's a great exercise for awareness. Awareness of the present moment. Awareness of making a conscious choice to choose something better vs. doing what I've always (mindlessly) done. Awareness of the impact of all of our actions, big or small.
Anyway, I thought I'd share this. Anyone have anything like this that they do?
I do awareness exercises like that sometimes when I'm eating or posting or walking, paying attention to how I move. It's fun. :)
