I always approached the 'what do you want to be when you grow up?' question with an open mind. The idea of a career has never really grabbed me. I see my career as a process of elimination and each job as an experience. What I do now may not be what I want to do in the future so I have always maintained a degree of flexibility when it comes to 'work'. Are you now an Astronaut? Pop Diva? or Zoo Keeper? or are you still searching for that 'what do you want to be'.? |

nope. did not become one thing i professionally wanted to be. i wanted to be a vet...so i love animals instead. wanted to be a dancer...so i dance whenever i get the chance. wanted to be a jockey...so at one time in my life i bought a horse and i rode. wanted to be an archeologist or a forensic scientist so i read and watch about these things all the time. once when i was very young i even wanted to be a nun and so it goes on and on....no great wealth, no super stardom, no going down in the history books...but i enjoy, in some ways, all the things i have wanted to be and will continue to do so |

I was a child actor and wanted to be an actress when I grew up. I was good too. Then I reached 15 and lost the confidence for it. That and I was taught to focus on going to university and getting "a real job." Never thought I could make a serious go of it.

I had no idea what I wanted to be when I grew up. In fact it was something that worried me greatly as a child, because I just didn't know what the options were. I used to ask all the adults around me what their jobs were hoping that one of them would say "I'm a _____" and that would be the thing I was looking for. It never was! In fact, what I am now, (Soul Realignment Practitioner) hadn't been invented then! So how could I possibly know that's what I wanted to do when I was 6? What I love about what I do now is that I get to help people figure out the answer to what their natural talents are and how they can express them! Especially as I know how important knowing the answer to that question can be. |

Not really. I don't have a karma grid like most people. As a child i wanted to try hundreds of different directions. My life still feels that way. I lean towards healing and creative works but i pretty much make it up as i go along and it suits me just fine.

I'm still growing up, and expect to do so till the day I die. I've never had a clear pic of what I wanted to become. Sometimes I envy people who have that. My path seems to be to discover, explore, do things for a while (say 2-5 years), learn and then move on. Looking back, I've done many different things, had wonderful (and lousy) experiences and all in all it's been good. |

I lost interest in world domination around the age of 18. But seriously, I wanted to be a doctor and, while that's technically not my job, being a doctor is effectively what I do day in day out, at work, in my personal life, etc. It's just not being a medical doctor, which is fine. |

This hadn't occurred to me until you asked, but I was 11 years old when I took my first hypnosis course, and I told my pal that I wanted to be a hypnotist when I grew up -- like our teacher, Frank Genco, who was so charismatic and hypnotic and funny and loving and contributed so much to our growth. I wonder what ever happened to Frank? Anyway, now I'm a Master Hypnotherapist, so there you go.

I used to want to become a genetic engineer when I was a child, and grow giant vegetables to feed starving kids in Africa. I no longer want this, but I realised yesterday that in helping prepare yummy organic vego/vegan cuisine at a place I volunteer at, I am helping to promote healthy, fresh wholesome living for people in my own country...so, close enough. |

When I was in nursery school we had an exercise to drew what we wanted to be when we'd grow up. I wrote "scientist, artist, witch" Now I'm a science undergraduate, have participated in my first art exhibition and also have a statisfactory contact with the area of paranormal. Still working on all three Of course, I have wanted to be a ton of other things, after that, like an acrobat and work in a circus, or a published poet, but who cares?" |

I also wanted to be an archaeologist, a perfume maker and a writer/scriptwriter. I did not pursue archaeology, I have learnt to make perfume and do make my own, for me...at this stage, and I have written a childrens book which I intend to self-publish as soon as the money gets here. I am working on the writing, and have taken steps to start scriptwriting. |

Several years ago, when I was going through my moms things of what she kept from our childhood, I saw this paper I wrote when I was in 2nd or 3rd grade. It was for some thing our teacher asked us to write what we wanted to be when we grew up. I wrote "I'm going to be a great mother." Later on I also decided I also wanted to be rich. I'm thoroughly enjoying both journeys right now. I say it's a journey since my work isn't done yet |

I wanted to travel in space one day(which I still want). I also wanted to walk through walls, not sure if I'll get that one To Grace: You say you were good at acting, your self-confidence isn't that low then ;-) I say GO FOR IT, never ever give up on your dreams, if you feel deep down you've "got it". I also have almost regular problems with self-confidence, but when I overcome the bad season the good one always comes. Staying on your path and the fear of the path is usually bigger than the path itself before you. That's the test you have to pass, so that you can get to the other side where most people can't |

I wanted to be a writer, and I ended up doing a stint as a paid blogger, but so far I've not written 'that novel'. I'm not that bothered now though, as I realised I was holding onto something I used to want for the sake of an old dream. Life changes, and so do I! I no longer have stories flowing through my brain 24/7, but I have lots of other interesting stuff replacing them.
