Hey guys, i am 17 male. Really into Self- Development, Health. Live almost extremely healthy. Making 1 new habit every month (get up at 5, meditation, Working out,...). I read the article about finding your purpose in 20 min. Spent like 2 hour with it. I figured that these thing gave me a little emotion: living life to the fullest Contribute the most i can higher self- esteem/love/respect of other people but still i think that they arent clear enough. and emotionally they dont feel like itīs my purpose. Any ideas how to find it? read more books? Because of it, i feel like a blindman.that i lack a krystal clear direction in my life. and i dont want to live a mediocre life. itīs too short for me to waste my life. thanks for help. |

Theres a chance your not yet aware of your context, remember even thou it says your "find" is actually means "create" your creating context in which you pour your life, the context is your life purpose. I recommended reading "life on purpose" by Brad swift (also recommended by steve pavlina) |

thx going to buy that book. current passion project: self discipline recommend you guys make a new habit every month. I am doing it for 4 months now sticking to it every day. Suspense: living your life without a purpose and not living your life acording to your values is a waste. It like living like a zombie. If i leave the heavy stuff alone iīll get short-term relief but long-term pain. |

| I think what the person meant was that life purpose is not forced -- it grows organically. You seem very mature for your age, but you just don't have enough life experience to glean the adequate information to determine what your purpose is. There's nothing wrong with being young. Enjoy it and you may stumble onto your life purpose when you least expect it.

Okay, I am posting this again. But since you are young just starting out, I think this applies very well to you. I especially like the answer to the last question. YouTube - Inside The Actors Studio Dustin Hoffman 9 (Last) |

| I agree with this too. Just live your life, and discover whats important for you. Everyone has a purpose, and that purpose will reveal in its own time. For now I would recommend that you read Napoleon Hill's "Think and Grow Rich". Its got some great topics that would help you get an idea of what is it that you would be happy doing with your life.

I mean, you can read more books, but why not try something, see how you respond, and then or continue or to try something new? This is best way for me...

Maybe you haven't spent enough time doing the purpose exercise. Steve said that some people might find it quicker than others. He said that one guy e-mailed him and said it took him 20 sessions to find it! |

| So did I, hun, and I'm 28 now. Like gloci just said, it takes some people longer. I actually didn't think it took me that long compared to many people I've met. I did eventually find my purpose statement -- "To teach people who want to learn how to live how to create that process of self-discovery for themselves" -- but I tried that 20-minute exercise when I first came out and only recently did I finally hit upon it. I wasn't even doing the exercise at the time. It just hit me like a ton of bricks out of nowhere, and I refined it a couple of times until I cried.

Goodness, to be 17 & trying to find your life purpose. I think you're on the right path by at least being aware and constantly trying to improve yourself. But don't waste your youth trying to get it all figured out now. You are exactly where you need to be. Nothing more, nothing less. Like everyone said, it will come to you when the time is right. In my very first reading with Erin, like 3 years ago, I asked her what my life purpose was. She said I was meant to teach. I asked her, 'Teach what???' She said that it was for me to figure out on my own. Fast forward to now, I completely understand why I can't get the answers back then. If it was revealed to me back then what my "message" was, it would have been too premature. I would have gone crazy trying to figure out how I'm supposed to accomplish my purpose when I didn't even know much of what I was supposed to teach. I needed to experience some things first. Actually, a lot of things. I needed to experience the process of finding out on my own when the time is right. Last edited by Margarita888; 03-07-2010 at 06:53 PM.

Just have fun - Don't dig so deep at your age. I do commend you though for thinking about your life. I see fellow employees, about your age...that roll out of bed...I don't think they even run a comb through their hair...and come in to work with a stick of deoderant, a HoHo and a cup coffee. If they come in at 8:00...I'm guessing they got up at 7:40. I'll bet you would make a good worker - but again you don't have to over do it. |

Wow..no doubt, incredibly mature for a 17 year old! I'm now 46 and I can honestly say at seventeen I was still developing self...truth is, this never ends, but looking back I can really see that I was a mere portion of the person I now know as myself. It seems to me that the act of 'looking' for life purpose often makes it appear more elusive than ever. My experience has been to allow purpose to find me. I believe we accomplish this through following our impulses towards things that bring us joy. I spent far too much time when I was young pursuing the 'shoulds' instead of realizing that the feeling of happiness and joy was my indicator that I was right where I was supposed to be. Through doing this, your purpose will begin to fall into place.....and then from there it can evolve and change into something that appears entirely different from what you initially thought it was!...works in progress, all of us. |

| Wllmlos: I would be a lousy worker. because i refuse to have someone above me and telling me what to do. Letting someone determine how much money i make isn´t for me. I even don´t want to go to school. Because i know that 90%(maybe more) of what i learn these will be useless in my life. Margarita888: Yep living consciously is the way to live. Knowing your values and purpose is powerful stuff. Gloci: thx. You´re right. I am quite young so it can take a lot of time. Aleksander Krstic: co to je PD? |

| I recommend doing the Passion Test. Took it at a workshop in January and it helped me get really clear about my top 5 passions. You write them on a card and every time you need to made a decision, you can check whether it aligns with your passions. There is a book if there isn't a workshop near you. Home - The Passion Test Good luck. Sounds like you're definitely on the right track. I get frustrated like you. I can be quite impatient. I remind myself that life is a journey and I am in exactly the right place at this current moment. |

| If this choice 'feels good' to you when you consider having made it...then congratulations you've made the right decision! By honoring that 'passion meter' within yourself and following your highest impulses you'll be lead easily and effortlessly to your purpose(s). Have fun!

If in the chance event you change your mind later, you'll take your learning that much more seriously -- because you are there for your benefit, no one else's. And btw, lots of successful people never graduate from -- or even start -- college.

I look back at my 17 year old self and I was completely and utterly clueless. At 17 - you are well ahead of the game, let me tell you. It wasn't until around my 30th birthday that I started to wake up and decide to start making the most of my life and each day I live. Keep your head up friend.

If this young man is trying to find his purpose at this young of an age, it should be encouraged. Having a sense of direction makes us happy. Why shy him away from it. He is working on himself and through this he will be happier because of it. If he finds his purpose sooner, he will connect with people with similar interests sooner. What else makes people happier than this? Good job! Don't let others deter you! Keep yourself on the track you want to have! So what if these people started waking up in there 30's or 40' YOU'RE DOING IT NOW! That's your choice and it is nice to see such devotion at a young age. People often conflict "trying to be better" with "trying to be better isn't fun". This is why they try to deter you and tell you that you are wrong in doing this at 17! You're aren't, you will be happier sooner for it. I know for a fact that the sooner you get your issues addressed the sooner you will be happy! GO FOR IT!
