Question Women, are they the weaker sex?

Most religions of this world still believe that women are less than men. Why?

To feel a sense of control, of course.

In the physical sense...yes they are (for the most part).

In the emotional/spiritual sense...not at all. They are much stronger than men are in that area.

How ironic it is that in an average lifetime, most women are expected to endure – as a matter of course – a physical experience that is more painful and testing than anything her partner will have to go through. And then she may willingly undergo it more than once! I guess the emotional strength gets her through!

These are the obvious answers about m/w differences. I'm sure the ego and personal power of men are being threatened.
We have all the science to prove that humans can do almost anything yet we still have a religious dogma keeping us in the DARK AGES with stinky thinking.
I think it is time that all religions should rewrite their books to an updated version. It has been done before so why not again.

i think women are extremely POWERFUL! i think that transcends "strength" on many levels....and in many situations where we draw upon something innate that can get us through many things physically, emotionally, spirtually, in leadership, in healing....

i think men in general, and maybe cultures and countries really know this and are afraid of it, so downplay us as weak.

I think men just want their dinners made, and have constant sex without being emotionally responsible for their actions. If women had the power to not do this in most countries, they wouldn't cook anymore dinners. In fact if there was no moral code I'm sure we'd all be ###### like rabbits with whomever feels good. Then eat good food and nap throughout day so we can do it all again.

well, yeah...what is the old joke a perfect woman is one with a flat head or turns into a pizza and a beer after sex...i dunno...

but even though what you said is basically true in the most neanderthal sense...there are already a lot of men and women in countries that don't stone you because of it are doing it like rabbits and eating and sleeping and making their little pellets all over the place.

the powerful part is being this feminine sexy thing when you want and cooking dinner when you feel like it and kicking ass when you can...and a man being none the wiser for it!

Insecurity. Superiority complexes usually stem from underlying feelings of Inferiority. Plus, add jealousy that we can have babies and men can't and hey presto...attitudes are born. They just can't handle that we are extremely powerful beings...and they are scared. Physically we are weaker though...most of us!

I have always said that a woman's physical limitations have undermined her status in the world. If she were as strong as a man, a good portion of the abuse and mistreatment would vanish.

Unfortunately, this is not the case and a woman's lack of physical strength compared to a man's is often the reason for many of the injustices women experience.

And I think that is why so many religious men thousands of years ago came to believe women were less than. A woman's body is biologically made and ready for children and she was expected to be in the home.

From a sociological standpoint, it makes sense why men have dominated women for so long. It's easy to feel better than a person when the other is weak and power and control can be yours.

Fortunately, many men respect a woman's vulnerability and appreciate the beauty and softness she can bring to the world.

It isn't fair women are the weaker sex (physically) but I believe they make up for it spiritually and often emotionally (they are more comfortable to express emotions like fear and sorrow).

Ego and pride. Though I'm not sure that they view women as less than men, in what way than? Maybe in Buddhism women are seen as less spiritually advanced than men, and in the old testament the woman was made for the male to have some company(?) Anyway maybe the view in some religions of women isn't so much that they are inferior to men as it is that they have a different and equally important roles than men, only that some people interpret these roles as to be "lesser" than a mans role?

Physical strength is different than pain threshold and tolerance.

That depends on your point of view. If being you view a submissive woman as weak and a dominant man as being too strong and a pig then you are wrong.

Why people want to make men and women the same??? Is it bad to be weaker sex? If that is your part in the universe than play it. In physics you don't telling Minus is less than Plus... no it's two different things, doing their part. Just like men and women. Men are more dominant, women more submissive (this is just generalisation though). Nothing bad with that!

Just figure you freakin' part in life and play it...

Well, I have come to realise that I do perhaps have a wrong perception of what submissive means. I have learnt from somewhere(?)that submissive indicated "weakness" but I am starting to re-examine this. Also, there is a negative connotation attached to weakness, and I do need to work through this also, as I have been programmed to think that weak="bad".

I don't think men and women are equal. It is more about equal rights, and being viewed as valuable, rather than just baby machines that are there just for a man's pleasure, and as a decoration.

I really can't imagine any man being jealous of a woman for her ability to give birth.. (is that what you were saying?)

Maybe we'd be jealous of other things, being able to express emotions, being more beautiful etc..

It's more on a subconscious level.

Woman and men are different.

Neither is weaker or stronger than the other. They are just different.

Yes, some guys tell me that I am SOOO lucky that I can have children, and that they're frustrated because they would love to have a baby in their womb.

It's funny that they'd want and can't, and I could and don't want.

Who the heck would be jealous of that?

I mean, obviously, the part about creating a life is beautiful and precious and all that, but the part where you tear your crotch up and bleed from it for 1/4th of your life is something I have never been nor ever will be jealous of.

It seems to me, to be as crazy as being jealous of a monkey for being able to climb trees.

I agree it's an awesome ability to have, but I can't imagine myself ever being jealous of being able to give birth.. but I'm only 1 guy, so I wouldn't know..

What's funny to me is how...defensive...women get about saying something like "men are physically stronger than women."

It's like, there comes all these little exceptions and technicalities that really are unnecessary. I promise you guys that that statement does not devalue you your power. Nor does it puff up my giant male ego.

It's just a statement of what...is. No need to try and compensate for that fact of life by trying to come up with technicalities.
