Yeah this is what I was thinking, being a dark worker OR a lightworker isn't the best perspective to take since they both lead to the same place, so you should merge the 2 together.

I don't know, I think its all tied to self actualization, which is doing good to the world as it is the only thing you WANT to do since you yourself are perfectly fullfilled. In psychology when describing self actualization, they were of course thinking of becoming fulfilled doing things and achieving things, but in spirituality, its becoming fullfilled in being.

As I understand spirituality, this is true but it doesn't exclude doing... it's being before doing but being entails doing... so self-actualisation by bringing out your creative potential or whatever is good - but it has to be because you have BECOME more who you really are.

I can give specifics if needed.

Well nowadays from what I hear a darkworker (someone who lives for service to self) doesn't need to use fear energy or necessarily need to dominate others (unless they're kinky like that). I don't understand very deeply what the darkworker path involves, but it seems to work for Asmoday and Ilustro Cado, among others, and they're not psychopaths.

All I can say for sure right now is that a real motivation for life can be found if you wake up to a burning desire to help the world and live true to that - or if you find a burning desire to give yourself all of the love and honour you can possibly manage for yourself. You are worth it. But then real service to others requires self love (how else can you inspire self love in others, for instance?) and real love of self requires (in my opinion) the ability to enjoy and share love with others as an expression of your true nature. So you just choose which one inspires you to centre your life around it. Do you breathe in to be able to breathe out or breathe out to be able to breathe in? In this world of duality we're taught not to reconcile the two and we hardly breathe at all. Would be nice if our whole in and out breath were strong and deep at the same time though. We can start breathing really deeply by really letting all the air out of our lungs to be able to take in more, or really breathing in to be able to breathe out more. You just start somewhere, focus on one thing so that the other thing comes to you.

There's also some stuff about darkworkers drawing energy from the root chakra I don't quite get. I do know my power comes from my divine connection (crown), I try to have my 7th chakra nice and open when I'm doing healing or writing or any other work I intend for the highest good of all.

Also, I think there's something about LW/DW that comes from being "awakened". I don't know about enlightenment, but there is a sort of state where someone is "awake" when the normal life just doesn't seem to make sense to them anymore. You kind of have to burn off all that old stuff to wake up to a new perspective on life.

Ummmmmmmmmm that's all I can think of to say for now.

It is of great benefit to begin a conscious clearing of casually used words and terms. The Lightwork is responsible for consice communications in various areas, and ONE WORD can alter an entire thought. On subconscious levels, these echo a lot further than we realise.

For example: INCREDIBLE

It was an incredible experience.

Why does the experience have no credence? It isn't credible?

REPLACEMENT WORD SUGGESTION: REMARKABLE

It is worth remarking about.

Last time I got up to a really high vibration, I was drawn to stop thinking. It felt like words were placing too much limitation on my reality and I could better sort through my internal processes by focusing on the "flow" sensation. And having lots of attention on the outside world, too

It´s about the motivational flow. You can be motivated yo move towards something, or you can be motivated away from something.

A darkworker especially has to master his emotions, meaning you can control your emotions at will. If you want to feel deep bliss and gratitude for example, you just focus inside and and spike that feeling. Same with anger or fear or whatever other emotions you want to feel. 5 minutes here and there throughout the day, linking strong emotions to an image in your mind, will do wonders for motivations. It compels you forward, and you just have to take action on it or go insane.


Many darkworkers, at least starting out, have a natural motivational flow to move away from pain. As an example, loosing weight out of inspiration to look like a Greek god is, for me, not as effective as guilt and anger. Being sufficiently dissatisfied and pissed off at myself for gaining so much weight sprung me into action, and I lost around 50 lbs of blubber. Fear of dong a crappy job and it´s consequence, motivates me to do quality work, and I now have more responsibility and lots of more freedom and it makes me love my job.


It´s about achieving peak motivation. Happiness by the way, is a choice, and I choose to have positive thoughts and feelings. So it´s not abut being stuck in fear and anger all the time.


Through the nature of being motivated all the time, it´s natural to gain more and more ambition, and thus, a mid to higher level darkworker often times influences the world around him to fit the kind of world he wants to live in. Had it not been for Playboy and Hugh Hefner, I believe the world today would be a lot more sexually rigid for example. Had it not been for the founding fathers, the US would have been in the hands of the British Empire. And they were pissed off that they had to pay taxes.


To understand a darkworker, seek understanding with an open mind. Instead of seeking judgment with a semi-open mind. I see many lightworkers as having an "I am better than you" attitude towards a darkworker. This only tells me that they´re slapping on lables, basically projecting their beliefs without having an open mind.

Reading that makes me even more sure that I'm on the lightworker end of the spectrum But I did go through a definite darkworker phase.

I found it rather painful to be a darkworker but I figure it's because my being was rebelling so much. It's just not my destiny, however valid it may be.

Agreed. I tried to rep you for the post, lifeforce, but it says I need to spread it around first. This'll have to do.

I found it rather painful to be a darkworker but I figure it's because my being was rebelling so much. It's just not my destiny, however valid it may be.

Part of that may be due to misconceptions. I can tell you from personal experience that when I thought the psychotic model of darkworking was closest to the truth it hurt to put myself in that mold. For every part that empowered me and made me come alive there was another which restricted me. In some cases I was deeply saddened because that wasn't what I wanted to become.

Also, any internal conflict will come to light very quickly on this road. It can feel overwhelming at the start. I imagine something similar happens to lightworkers but when and how I can't really guess. My gut feeling was that my issues would have to be dealt with one way or another and the times when I thought that changing sides would solve my problems I was trying to distract myself from making real progress.

So that's something for an aspirant to consider. Neither path is easy-pain is not just expected, sometimes it's the surest sign you're doing it right. The key is learning how to use it as a catalyst for self-realization instead of wallowing in it. I'd say that applies either way, light or dark.

I also think there is something to the idea that some people are strongly attracted to one or the other and going the opposite way is significantly more difficult than it would be otherwise. That would describe my experience with lightworking, but I went into that with a lot of misconceptions so I have only guesses, not the truth.

Perhaps past lives are the deciding factor for people who are strongly attracted to one over the other? I don't know my history but I feel this darkworking thing isn't new to me. More conjecture, but it's fun to think about.

Wow, this is very interesting...I had heard the term "lightworker" before, of course, but never "darkworker."

According to the definitions here, I was more of a lightworker in my youth, and in the past few years, I seem to have gone more toward the other polarization. I still care very much about "the world" and its suffering, but have become somewhat cynical concerning my ablility to do anything about it other than to be the best "me" that I can be....which sounds more like a darkworker kind of focus.

I shall have to study more on these concepts....

After reading Steve's article on Are you a Lightworker or a Darkworker, i have to conclude that I have not chosen to be either... and I 'm not sure if i can/will. I have NEVER been able to bring sustained intensity to any life endeavor of any kind....or to choose just one path, career, whatever...i tend to be interested in different things at different times and to different degrees and for different amounts of time.

Guess I am doomed to live sub-optimally.....

I can't say I know enough to say for sure, but I think some us are just called in one way or the other - or not. If you're not called, perhaps it's not your destiny in this life or at least this moment to polarise. Or perhaps you'd like to dabble in either polarity for a while. You can't get results if you are a lightworker for a day then a darkworker for a day. But if you have a temporary inspiration to explore your darkworker side for a while, perhaps that could be enough to get some interesting results. Then when a new inspiration comes up, explore your lightworker side. It could be an interesting journey.

I guess it all depends on what we've come here to do, and some of us just never intended to polarise. I can't be sure though as I said.

Myself, I don't think destiny plays a part. It's choice, every moment of every day. No matter what someone else has planned for us or even what we've planned ourselves we're always able to walk another road, the question is cost.

Chameleon, whether you use polarity as your framework or you don't won't determine if you'll live sub-optimally. What do you want out of life? If you have an answer, are you there? If not, why? Your answers, or lack thereof, reveal where your strengths and weaknesses lie. Put polarity aside for now-seek clarity. If you do that you may find polarizing is the best way to attain it. (Clarity, that is.) It's the biggest benefit I've gained from all this and it's something lightworkers and darkworkers share in common even at the earlier stages of their paths.

What I see in your post is desire and doubt-you want something you don't think you can have. Maybe you can say what it is, maybe it's a vague sort-of-hazy feeling. If I'm right it looks like you're dealing with something at an identity level, i.e. "I'm not the kind person who sticks with something." That's not you, that's a recurring pattern which your core self can solidify or alter as it wishes. The key is identifying the difference between something you commit to by following your bliss and something you stick with because you're committed to it. Oftentimes when someone lacks staying power it's because they're afraid of getting what they want, finding it isn't, and getting stuck there. The truth is that we're never stuck but it takes courage to create another way.

Going back to my "put polarity aside" comment, it may be better for you to consider not just who you are but who you want to be and then see where that person falls. Also look at elements which make people successful regardless of whether they've adopted polarity themselves. I've already listed a few traits which anyone would benefit from like clarity and courage. The biggest difference is that they live to win, not to not lose. A lightworker would probably frame it differently but it's something every successful person has in common. It comes down to responsibility. "If it's to be it's up to me."

Safety and comfort are illusions. We all know that but it's easy to forget when we push mortality from our minds. The truth is you've got 70 years, 100 if you're lucky, and whatever losses you incur are as temporary as you are. There may be an afterlife, you may reincarnate, but this is a you in a moment that exists only once. How will you use that most sacred of gifts?

None of this is meant to discourage experimentation. You're the sole authority on whether or not your time is well spent, and Andrew is right that you might find it most fulfilling to delve into many aspects of life over the course of yours. I would just reiterate, "do one at a time." You can't lightwork and darkwork. You can't be a hippie and vote republican. Throw yourself behind what you've chosen to do and see where it goes. You may find something that's easier to stick with than you thought.

Sure, I can understand this perspective. What I mean by destiny may not be the same as what other people mean by destiny. I don't believe the future is writ. But anyone can agree that we work within a certain amount of limits. Perhaps only our belief in limits is what creates limits, but if we can't make ourselves believe strong enough that gravity doesn't work, it's as good as saying that it's impossible to fly.

And choice... what is choice? Is it just randomness? I'd say that we always take choices based on some kind of reasoning, of pro/con or at least our feelings. If our soul doesn't have a feeling drawing us to one side or the other in the case of x-working, and there isn't any reasoning that will make the decision for us clear, then perhaps it's not the time to polarise.

Or perhaps it is. Maybe it's time to make an arbitrary decision based on the way the wind is blowing if nothing else and see how it goes.

That's if you love adventure. If you prefer security, play it safe and wait for the best time to choose. Everything is valid.

Hehe, yeah, and I realized I might be splitting hairs when I wrote that. It says more about what the word invokes for me than what you were actually saying. I left it because I felt it was a worthwhile perspective to share nonetheless. Freedom would have no meaning in world without limits.

And choice... what is choice? Is it just randomness? I'd say that we always take choices based on some kind of reasoning, of pro/con or at least our feelings. If our soul doesn't have a feeling drawing us to one side or the other in the case of x-working, and there isn't any reasoning that will make the decision for us clear, then perhaps it's not the time to polarise.

Agreed. When I think choice, I'm speaking on a deeper level than most. Thought, where most of us think choices happen, doesn't lead to willed action. When someone weighs the pros and cons of something it's because another part of them set that into motion and choice only becomes meaningful as they're able to wind back and act from the point of first cause.

If someone is muddled to the extent that they can't see how that's possible, it may be time to do something, any something, to break inertia. It may be time to reflect. Maybe they should do nothing at all. Mindfulness goes a long way. The answer is wholly dependant on whichever you is reading this. Especially you, Adrian.

Well, and here's the rub!

i have NEVER been able to determine what my "bliss" would be, to follow it.
I only have vague ideas as to "what kind of person" i want to be, other than someone who is thought of kindly by people who know me.

It seems I have gone through life, unable to focus for any length of time on any one path. I have looked into many different religious paths, I have 2 different tech degrees, (didn't stay in college because of being unable to "choose" a major), have dabbled in art and music (some talent in both), have started learning energy healing, but got sidetracked by my Mom's recent death....i just seem to have trouble staying with anything very long.

And I have never been able to determine why.

Am I afraid of success, or failure, or exactly what? Do I get "bored"....i just seem to be like a moth, fluttering to this flame, then that one, then over here....

It is very frustrating.
