Hey everyone I recently joined my local Humane Society and I have started to volunteer (for those who don't know, it's a place that takes in animals, prepares them for adoption, and then finds new families for them). One of the things I will be doing there is attending a monthly meeting where we will be discussing possible ideas for ways to improve the company. This can be anything from how to get more volunteers, how to raise more money, how to find more homes for the animals, how to locate existing homes that might be abusing their animals, how to make the most out of the current resources, etc. While the Center is not desperate, there is always room for improvement. I was wondering if anybody here has any great ideas that might be worth trying. If you are part of a similar organization and you have seen some great results, that'd be perfect. However, I can imagine every single one of us could come up with some decent, if not incredible, ideas that are worth trying. Thanks so much for your thoughts (P.S. - One idea mentioned I heard was to bring some puppies to local movie theaters after the recent movie Hotel for Dogs. 14 dogs were brought, and all of them ended up getting donated by moviegoers. And that's on top of the fundraising they received. -- Just thought I would mention it, I thought it was a great idea, and maybe somebody else can use it in their own way :-) |

in florida the local "paws" did something similar in a pet supemarket store...it seemed to be quite effective. i also just was wondering if any organizations such as the humane society go into schools to educate youth on responsible pet care, stress against abuse, or recruit volunteers. |
