My point is exectly that nobody can tell her what to do, or how to do it. I do not think it is wasting her time doing something that she absolutely loves (which she has said on several occasions here on the forums.

You cannot "waste" a degree. Whatever you have learned there, you still know. It is not wasted, just not used.

I will concede that the OP may eventually find what she is seeking by returning to her former gig and figuring things out from there. However, and I don't mean this direspectfully, pursuing happiness or power for it's own sake seems to me a bit childish. I could be happy surfing the internet and eating ice cream and chips all day, but would it really be good for me and more importantly - is this truly my purpose? These are the ideas I hope she will think about.
I disagree here. My purpose in life is finding joy/happiness. Not the shallow happiness that you get by eating icecream and watching tv all day, but the deeper, more lasting happiness. I believe this is everybodies purpose.
If for you helping others and building your own business makes you truly happy... what is your ultimate purpose.. Building the business or being happy?
For me, it is being happy!

All this is why I am saying that CroMagna should make her decisions based on what makes her happy. Not on what other people think of her or judgements of other people (such as, you are wasting your degree, stripping is a superficial enterprice etc). Only she can decide.

That is my advice to her.

As we discuss this topic I sense that CroMagna has a little bit of push me pull me going on. I mean she would like to return to stripping and at the same time does not wish to return to striping.

Perhaps I am mistaken but the payoff for stripping seem to conflict with other goals and values in her life.

I do have sort of a push me pull me. Stripping has many benefits mostly to do with sexism, sexual liberation, and power. But I have a Duke degree! I should be a professor or a doctor. I could strip on the side and then work or go to school. I could use stripping as a stepping stone to feminist activism, like how Johnny Soporno did with "pick up artistry" for lack of a better phrase (was he a porn star? Was Violet?)

Without the should, escape from sexism, sexual liberation, being powerful or a doctor, in your deep quiet place what is your bliss? Who are you when you free yourself from fears and expectations? I believe it may well be something you have not mentioned yet, perhaps do not consciously know yet that is your true self chosen purpose. I hope the path of your bliss is revealed to you and that you will follow your bliss!

I fully support your stripper quest.

Who gives a damn where you got your degree from? Unless you're having fun with your degree, screw it.

I gave you some "marketing tips". Let me know if you need more. Get out there and shake that money maker!

I think that I have been neurotic for way too long. I want to do this for fun! Hell yeah about the degree! I wasn't meant to live the normal 9-5 life.

I noticed a rise of interest in stripping endeavors and self-made adult sites from different members here.

Steve - it's time to open self-help for adults-only section!
I volunteer to be a moderator :-P

competition,
the economy
club policies.
stellar looking women who make McDonald's salaries.

extremely hard to do well in.
What is your motivation for going back to stripping? Is it the attention, the money, the dancing itself? If it's what you love, you'll do the three things necessary, and ignore your doubter about the EIGHT reasons you don't sound at all excited about this path.

By the way, well-trained sales people with compelling products are still doing very, very well in this economy. Stripping is an industry, too. (I'm in the adult industry, as well: direct sales, not specifically entertainment.)

I've read Candy Girl: A Year in the Life of an Unlikely Stripper by Diablo Cody (the woman who wrote "Juno") and known many "girls" who "danced", and can not see myself putting up with the club policies. Too much of what goes with the pole is just about prostitution.

You said you went to school, what was it for? (I'll read the rest of the responses to figure that out - I can't be the only one who will have asked...)

Actually, I was surprised to find an adult-themed posting. I am new here, but I am an expert in the adult field, having years of experience in the adult industry. (in an adult section, I could tell you what experience, and drop the euphimism that is pretty incorrect in its name alone : "adult".

I would volunteer to moderate, if it were likely to be recieved well. Perhaps with a lot more experience - I'd be glad to interview for the position. :-)

If you dig a little, there's a decent amount of discussion on pornography on these forums in general. A tiny percentage in the grand scheme, but it's there and it was generally a high signal-to-noise discussion.

Ah yes I agree with Gene. Go to the very core of yourself without the expectations and masks that society tells us to wear. Brilliant!

I can understand wanting to strip, I live in vegas and worked in some of the best clubs around. You do get a sense of power, and you will learn a lot about yourself and people in general if you open yourself up to those lessons. I would not recommend it however if you are someone of low self esteem and looking for validation from others of how powerful and awsome you are. That is how many of the girls here fall into the bad parts of stripping. Yes its fun, yes you can make a lot of money, but there are traps for people who need affirmation from others and do not know how to feel that for themselves. Go back with correct intentions, make some money, learn something new about yourself, have some fun, but if you go back with the attitude that you will only feel powerful on stage or lapdancing, then as soon as you stop, you will need something else to fill that void.

As long as you offer deeply discounted lap dances to Steve Pavlina forum members I support your endeavor.

As I read the posts on this thread, I'm reminded that sometimes the best way to find out what works is to do things that don't -- even when I had to do what doesn't work over and over again. After breaking through that insanity and realizing what DOES work, I get what I had been looking for all along -- and I appreciate what does work that much more.

If you truly feel passionate about stripping then do it. Meditate on it and check out what feelings really are underneath when you think about stripping. Is there any fear, anxiety and so on? If so, then you most likely aren't doing it for who you really are. However, if you're 154% passionate about it and love it without any underlying "trying to get stuff", if it is something you'd want to be doing for the rest of your life even if money didn't exist, then go for it.
