Reading Cylon's coming back post, Effective Online Forum Usage by Steve Pavlina and reflecting on my own forum behaviour (here and elsewhere) I've decided to take a forum break for 30 days. Not only on this but also on other boards. I will keep a journal and will summarize from that when I return. Keep well and see you in a month! |

I guess I haven't gotten as good as I want to be with the LoA, because my intention is to feel connected with you forever, not to vibe you away!

Dear one, I'm ♥♥♥♥♥♥ at LOA myself, but I do appreciate and reciprocate your intention! Why don't we start an interesting topic on something we disagree on for a change?

Devil's advocate is my true profession I agree, it should be a real disagreement, but I haven't yet found something we disagree on. You got any ideas?

No, I got the funny. I thought you might truly believe that; some people do -- I don't need any "practice" with someone who doesn't believe it. But in case you weren't really "just kidding" I thought I'd ask. Hmmmm.... maybe you and I are like the romantic leads in "Persuasion" -- "...there could have been no two hearts so open, no tastes so similar, no feelings so in unison..." except without all that angst. |

So I took a forum holiday of about 2 weeks and already returned in full force It was an interesting experience, certainly recommendable for people who spent too much time online (in their experience). What I got out of it: - withdrawal symptoms for about 3-4 days. I really needed to consciously decide not to take a quick peek. Most of the time that worked. After that it was easy. - more time to do things I want, and connect with people who are important to me. That was very valuable! - I also missed some of the discussions but more the interactions with my virtual friends here and on other boards. Though online communities cannot fully replace real life friends they are a valuable addition for me. So now what? I've noticed it's easy to fall back to 'too much online' habits so I've decided to raise the bar. I'll get off line of this and other boards for 3 months, starting Monday. Not immediately, I want to follow some discussions and deal with PMs. I will come back in January. Wish me strength! |
