Hi I want to invite those who understand how important are values in life, to share their values and if they are willing to explain why are some of values that much important. By explanation we could overcome little confusion because same words(values) means different things for each of us. 1. Write down your life values, you want to live by. 2. Write down values which you live by Many people know what values and in which order they should live by, by often they don't. For example in my case I give too much importance of opinion of others even if I know logically that it is wrong 1. My values I want to live by 1. Health/Vitality Without good health you can hardly enjoy life. I mean being really sick. 2. Time Everything you do, you do within the time. Time you spent will never come back. It is more precisions that health because in some cases you can get back your good health but no exercises no raw diet could bring you time back. 3. Self development Expanding your mind, finding your true values, living in now, gaining knowledge and skills are really important for me. By working on your self you become stronger person and many things like being respected, being love, have money are automatic once you become better person. 4. Freedom I don't want let the people, money, social situation to dictate me what I should or not should do. I want to find my own path. 5. Spending time with important people. I am not talking here about intimate relationships just relationships in general. 6. Doing what I love This is clear. 7. Making a difference by Contribution Helping other peoples, contribute to world, helping improve ecology. There is no other way how to play the game called life. You don't have to feel emotionally that you should contribute but at least logically it must be clear to you that we all have responsibility at least for this planet. Even if your are selfish helping the others will help you. 8. Integrity Living by your values is the most important thing about all great people. Others don't have to agree with your values but they will respect you if live by your values. If you are aware that you are following your values makes you more confident. 2. My values I live by 1. Health/Vitality 2. Taking care about what others are thinking. I don't mean care about the others but let others opinions affects me. 3. Comfort I am having problem to overcome my comfort zone. I have time to time problem to push my self even slightly beyond my comfort zone. Rest of values are same. |

Interesting topic. My values that I want to live by (off the top of my head): - Health - physical, mental, spiritual - I think this is the cornerstone of everything else. - Integrity/Honesty - This one is important to me, can't put into words the "why". - Freedom - like the original poster, I want to be totally responsible for my life, and I want to embrace my freedom to make my own choices and paths. I also feel like the only way I will truly be happy is "doing my own thing" on my own terms. - Compassion, Empathy - I want to always try to understand where others are coming from, without judgement. - Respect - for myself and others, again without judgement. - Joy, Play! - Learning, Growth - I enjoy learning new things. And I'm constantly trying to grow and improve myself, not out of "shoulds" but because I really do believe that as we grow, our quality of lives becomes better. I'm sure I'm leaving off something. How I'm actually living - I'm falling a little short... I'm finding it hard to actually put my ideals into practice, though I'm making (slow) progress on some of these. Clearly way too much fear, judging, and using sugar to deal with stress going on |
