Default Can helping to deliver other peoples' created value be considered value creation?

In his articles Steve often speaks of the two important things behind any endeavor: Creating value and delivering value. Both are essential.

At first glance this seems to suggest that helping others deliver value they have created is worthless because you yourself are not creating value.

I've given this a lot of thought and believe it to be wrong though. When you help deliver someone else's value you are in fact entering a co-op with him where the two (or more) of you work together at creating and delivering value. His value creation is worthless without you delivering it and your delivery is worthless without him creating it.

This may be self-evident to many but I'm sure there are a few that fell into the same thinking-trap as did I.

If you helping someone you are providing value to them.

It strikes me that this idea has been capitalised on by many entrepreneurs. Offering a "value added" service with no real product and charging a higher price because of the boutique nature of the business. (See professional recruiters)

That might be an appropriate term to add to the fray as well though, "value added" instead of "value co-op'ed".

As someone who dislikes and is not particularly good at marketing anything, I can definitely see how helping someone deliver value is a great, valid way of adding value. I certainly appreciate it

I like to just create things and not have to waste my time/energy on getting people to read them, try them out, buy them, etc. Actually, in an ideal world (or at least a world I would consider ideal), I wouldn't have to sell anything at all. Giving things away feels so much better to me.

Best wishes,
Apollia
