Default Volunteer work.

I know this is a bit self-focused for a topic like this, but how do I find out which specific sorts/durations of volunteer work look good on a resume?

Anything. As long as it is genuine. Nothing like "I took care of my little brother when my parents went out".

If it relates to your future field of work, this might be even better, although some might prefer a versatile approach.

I have been volunteering in the railway mission during my time at university, and they'll give me a parttime job now to be able o pay for my second degree. They wouldn't have done so without the volunteering because they'd have thought that a theologian lacks practical knowledge of social work.

I agree with the above post. If you did it, and you think it's significant, then write it down.

Basically, I'm considering looking for volunteer work in order to fill the time between now and the next year's school applications, as something that could pump up my resume and hopefully (if possible) help me in a possible career change. I'm still not sure if I'd consider doing such a thing "full-time" or the like, though. (I haven't found much of anything in the way of temp-working, and I can live without the money for some time.)

I don't know if this is a worthwhile plan, however.
