Default Ishmael and Sustainable Communities

I'm a huge fan of Ishmael. A raw foodist acquaintance of mine recently told me he dismissed the book because it emphasized societies that were hunter gatherers and not all vegetarian, but I'd make the point that Quinn's philosophy works just better with raw foodism.

What can I say about this book?

Depends on where you are in your thinking, it may change your world view forever.

I had come up with some of Quinn's ideology on my own, but he presents it in a far more complete and compelling manner than I've ever managed.

Read my review here.

Wow cool, I manifested "people who wanna talk about Quinn".

I have not read Ishmael, but I'm really inspired by "The Story of B". THAT book has been the book to crack my brain open... I have trouble seeing it as a novel, especially when there are teachings at the end of it that could be used to start our own "Story of B" study group.

Yeah. I more or less view the fiction as a vehicle for the reality.

The story of B is great, but Ishmael also has some important insight. I particularly enjoyed the section discussing the evolution of the minds of animals. I never really thought about animals moving towards sentience.

Think of the implications.

I won't go into it because you haven't read it, but if you ever do let me know because I'd love to discuss this idea iwth someone.
