So here I am, 20 years old, job-less, and doing various things to figure out what I want to do right now. Currently, this takes the form of my webcomic, Humanity Guide. As I do this, after the initial month, I now struggle to bring myself to draw, and I begin to wonder if I really enjoy drawing. Really, what brought me into this was my writing, and lacking a sufficient market online for works of writing, I turned to webcomics, which I enjoy myself. Since I also can draw, it seemed like a natural fit. I love my story, but the drawing bit grades on me a bit now. I also constantly question myself if this is the biggest contribution I can be making, atm. So you do think that this is something I should drop and move on to something else, or should I stick it out for a bit? Why couldn't I have been a short-sighted, narrow-minded individual who slaved away in an office? Last edited by Michael Howe; 03-01-2009 at 11:31 PM. |

You can always keep doing it, while looking for an artist to team up with. Try to meet as many other webcomic creators and fans as you can, and look for someone whose vision matches up with yours. Webcomics are very unique in being made just by one person; traditional comics have existed for almost a century using mostly teams of three or four. There's really no reason you can't write scripts for someone else to draw. Also, just because you're conscious and a deep thinker doesn't mean you have to create your own thing. I find physical work like moving boxes and construction work extremely fulfilling. Find whatever makes you happy and fulfilled and do that. |

Sometimes you push yourself so hard that you feel your inspiration is dissapearing. But you can change that by just distancing yourself from drawing for a bit untill you again feel inspired to draw. You should never force yourself to do something you do not feel like doing now. If you keep being positive, you will soon become inspired to draw. This way your work will shine because you will take this action from inspiration rather than because you have to. |
