I love trees. I'm a damn treehugger, frankly. Besides the fact that planting a fruit tree will bring us healthy food, and besides the direct benefits they bring to the earth and agriculture like top soil production, in our cities and towns trees make a huge difference. They're so embedded in our minds that to be without them makes us a bit unhinged. I talk about this here.

"The true meaning of life is to plant trees under whose shade you do not expect to sit" - Nelson Henderson The Fruit Tree Planting Foundation My purpose involves permaculture and planting a lot of fruit trees. I have a current business idea of doing a landscaping business focused on agriculture instead of ornamental design. Basically creating harmony between nature and humanity. I want to go through and take every 1/4 acre lawn in suburbia and turn it into a selfsustaining human supporting ecosystem I love your website Andrew...The persimmon pie looks incredible. Instead of blueberries or blackberries I'd try adding fresh figs. Have you had fresh figs? Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. What I think is very important for raw-food is to provide recipes that are all fruit. Creative ideas like persimmon pie make 80-10-10 look much more appealing. Everything I look for with some variety, some extra texture, is nuts/flax etc. Combining fruit in a creative way is a great idea. Also.. I really like your post about properly ripening plantains. I had eaten mine when they were at the normal Banana ripe level (yellow with some brown) and it was solid starch :/ Have you actually tried the miracle fruit? I was considering using it as a brilliant maneuver for converting people to the raw-food diet more easily. You could use it prior to eating a salad or greens to make them more palatable. I'm on day 31 of being mostly raw. I've been fluctuating a lot between high fruit and high fat, I'm fairly certain high fruit is the better option but with apples and oranges I have a lot of trouble getting enough calories and a sense of a lack of variety. I'm going to try bananas as a base and then adding sweet fruits and making a delicious pie

This is so crazy! I just went to Home Depot (for work stuff) and they had a bunch of fruit trees for sale outside. Syncro? The thought of fresh picked peaches makes life bearable.

For the first two hundred years after Buddha's death, he was not depicted as human, but instead as a tree. There are various reasons attributed to why, but personally I believe his message was to have a tree planted over your grave. When I die I want a pear tree planted over where I am buried.

I'm extremely fascinated by permaculture, and I'd eventually like to take a course to become proficient in its application. I love your business idea, so please keep me posted if you ever implement it. I am familiar with the FTPF, and love their work. I have had fresh figs and love them. Thanks for the compliment. I haven't tried miracle fruit. Bananas will make getting enough calories much easier at 100 calories for a medium sized one. You also have to work on getting your stomach used to the needed volume.
