A few days ago I had an inspired action. A big one! One that will infinitely improve the lives of my friends and family, your friends and family, and everyone in the world. I live in New York City. One day I was walking around and suddenly it hit me how no one seems to be exuding positive energy. The average person I pass looks just miserable. So my idea was to find a way to spread the word across New York and quickly across the country and the world, that we all possess a simple powerful way to instantly make our lives better. We just have to be alerted to it in a way that we'll all choose to remember and put to use. I created a simple website (CHANGEYOURLIFEFORADOLLAR.COM) that begins with a very profound question: If you could get an answer as to how you can live a happier, healthier, more beautiful life, would you? The catch? To get the answer and the proven explanation of the benefits of the answer, each person must DONATE one dollar. Why a dollar? Because people respect and value something more once they exchange value for it. Everyone who pays to get the answer will be getting an incredible deal and the money will be donated to charity. Thing is... Paypal takes its 1/3 of each dollar! (which I think is ridiculous, if ANYONE knows a better way to do trascactions for less, tell me!) And I am not sure if I should be a non-profit or not. I want to use this website as a tool to make whomever uses it happier - so there is a value add to them. Then, the dollar they donate will be donated to charities. The website itself is not a charity. So what do I do? Is it considered a charity? I am confused! Thank You! |

Here are my thoughts, put in a short and precise way (as I like it 1) The idea is brilliant! 2) For profit charity and activist organizations are more effective and achieve their goals better, taken from the following article: For-profit activism | Change we can profit from | The Economist So if PayPal takes 1/3 of every dollar, you should have a right to take 1/10 of it as well, after all, you are making it happen and we all have to eat. 3) This idea needs continuity, there is nothing stopping a person telling his entire social network the answer for free + the supply for such a website is not endless. |

Breezy! Thank you SO much! I love it! I love the article too! You are Right, we all have to eat! Hopefully I can find a better solution to the Paypal fees, but for now they are the best around. I mention in the "Answer" page for those who have paid the dollar to kindly not share the answer with anyone because by doing so, they are taking away the powerful and unforgettable way they came to know this answer. So whomever jabbers their mouth off to their friends is actually not being a very good friend. Hopefully they will think it is a cool idea and want to share it with everyone they know. I would also like to make additions and new questions with exciting answers as the site grows. Thanks again so much!! |

Greetings, friend. Do you wish to look as happy as me? Well, you've got the power inside you right now. So use it. And send one dollar to Happy Dude, 742 Evergreen Terrace, Springfield. Don't delay! Eternal happiness is just a dollar away. -Homer Simpson |
