I have just heard about Kiva.org which assists in the loaning of money to people in poorer countries with their businesses. I have heard of other organisations that do this as well. What other outstanding charities/not for profit groups are there, that have an international focus and what do they do? |

Some international nonprofits that I think are on the right track: Amnesty International | Working to Protect Human Rights Greenpeace | Greenpeace USA Sea Shepherd Ones I really do not like because IMO it's not in the best interest of the recipients: Heifer International and Monsanto's donations of seed to poor 3rd world farmers |

I have been actively involved in Amnesty International for over 25 years, so would always flag them, but a smaller, less known charity is Motivation. They focus on just one basic human right - mobility. There are hundreds of thousands of people in low income countries who have disabilities that could be addressed with access to wheelchairs and other aids to daily living. Motivation works in a variety of ways to facilitate this. |
