Default My new reason for having a blog

Okay, i've decided to cut loose. In the past i've created blogs from a small interest of mine and found myself unmotivated to continue blogging on them. I also found that when looking at the statisics of these blogs I would get a cold empty feeling at the dearth of visitors. Clearly people just weren't interested. Perhaps they could smell my profit motivations from a mile away. I think the problem has been that i've let profit motivation could my judgement. I've listened to other bloggers who urge "specilization". These "Experts" want you to sit down and choose some random topic to write about and spend many mind numbing years talking endlessly about that subject. Now that i've seen the light of the day, that seems completely assinine. If i'm disinterested in the subject, ****, my readers must be even more disinterested! SO **** ALL THAT MESS. I'm going to be hard hitting, im going to write about what i'm passionate about, and im going to come straight from the chest, our soul, or gut, or whatever you want to call it. I will not pull any punches.

You can bet your ass that i'm going to gain a loyal audiance this time. It's not going to be hard to continuously update. This will be a cathartic release. I want to submerge myself in hardhitting ideas and conversation and make this world a better, less ignorant place. And have fun doing it. That is my only goal. I just want to have an interesting conversation with all of you fantastic people out there browsing the internet with your wide diversity of opinions and experiences. If you want to comment on this post, all I ask is that you share what your feeling and thinking and what your passionate about. What are YOUR hopes and dreams? Don't feel like you can't comment with "I am drunk and my biggest hope and dream right now is to meet a hot sexy lady/man/whatever". We all empathize with lust! We are human beings. Let's exalt in our humanity, rather than try our best to make ourselves as socially nonthreatening as possible like everyone seems to try to do these days. This is AMERICA. The land of the free, the home of the brave. Screw being politically correct. Screw this fake politeness tone that the internet has taken on. Let's cut the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and start being real!

Erm... *polite smile* I associate lots of things with "America", but certainly not freedom and courage.

I wanted to have a look at your blog. Looks like it doesn't exist?

This is purely my perception as a potential reader, but I think you're going to find it valuable:

Yes, your blog did come across as having profit motivations from the way you posted on this forum. However, the real problem was you didn't offer a great deal of value. Not to say it wasn't good, but it didn't stand out in any way. There are plenty of companies that very clearly have profit motivations but who cares if they are providing value?

You set yourself up for failure by being too similar to Steve. Even with brilliant articles people would be predisposed to think you were a cheap imitation. This is not a reflection on you -- but you were entering a niche that already has a relative giant occupying it. How could you possibly succeed?

I think the most fundamental thing you need to achieve blogging success is to have an interesting life! Something that really stands out. For blogging success you need real value to contribute! Knowing a lot of other peoples' opinions about stuff may help, but ultimately you need to be an authority within your own life. Either that, or be a great fiction writer.

If people perceive that you are Joe Bloggs expressing your unqualified opinions they will think "who the hell is this guy?"

Just my humble opinion as a reader, but I hope it helps.

I went through the same thing Jon. It takes alot of self-honesty to tell yourself that and re-calibrate and re-adjust. Keep going.
