| I don't care about PC, you know that. I care about: does it feel good? Is it inspiring? If it doesn't feel good or it doesn't inspire you, it's not your life purpose. |

I do like the idea of being part of a revolutionary group though, leading a rebel group to help overthrow an oppressive system. EDIT: But yeah, the idea of stopping bullies from picking on other people is something I find attractive. When I was a kid and growing up, I never allowed myself to be picked by bullies because I didn't hesitate to get into a fight with them no matter what the odds were or if they were bigger and stronger or more numerous then I was. However, I've hated to see my friends and others allow themselves to be picked by bullies, and be too weak in spirit to do anything about it. Furthermore, there is bullying done by employers, etc, where employees, and others aren't willing to stand up for themselves. I guess I get riled up when I see someone in authority or with power abuse their authority or their power on people with less authority or little power. | Yeah, seeker5, I see you that way, Che! Where I am going with this is: what would you be generating if you were to save the downtrodden from oppression? In my experience, the most powerful purpose involves going towards something rather than trying to get away from something. What would you and the world have that inspires you, if you were kicking the butt of oppressors? What would you be powerfully and boldly generating for yourself and for us? For instance, would it be Justice? Freedom? Power? What quality really lights you up, really inspires you? (Not an action; but rather, a quality or condition or value -- something that you could generate all the time, regardless of what action you or others are taking.) |

| Heh, I've always had an attraction for being a a rebel in South America. Too bad they were fighting for a cause I couldn't agree with, or they were fighting in a way I couldn't agree with. I've even had dreams where I was leading groups of rebels in one way or another (mostly against humans, but once in a rare while against aliens Quote:
I would love to see a world where everyone is respected by others, and everyone has total freedom to be exactly who they want to be. HUGE EDIT: I actually once overthrew an oppressive system.....online. It was a small online gaming community that had been around for many years, and there was an official place to meet, get password to the games, etc. Even though I was a "mod" myself I got riled up at how there was no systematic way to dealing with people - other "mods" and the "administrator" would constantly abuse people, kick/ban people for no reason, intimidate people, etc. However, it was the only place where you could play that game - so if you wanted to play this game that you've played for many years, you had to put up with the abuse to do so. Others had tried to form their own servers, but nobody would switch. I finally approached one of those guys with his own server and told him if he lets me set all the rules, and rule over the mods, I'd guarantee him I could get either everyone to switch there in 4 months time, or the administrator's server would change their policies to treat people with more respect. Sure enough with my marketing plan, with my enforcing behavior of mods to make sure they treated people with respect and followed a set plan, everyone pretty much joined our server and the administrator's server was pretty much shut down within 6 months due to lack of activity there. The administrator and all the mods under him were thus pretty much stripped of their power to abuse people. I was very hard on mods, being very careful on choosing who they were, making sure they treated those without any mods powers with respect, especially when it came time to warn/kick/ban them for disregarding the rules. I would remove the mod-power of those who abused their powers and disrespected the non-mods. So, in the end the mods and those in power ended respecting the individuals to a great extent. I was quite proud of that. So, yeah, maybe it's about Respect Last edited by seeker5 : 02-26-2008 at 11:53 PM. |

| That inspires me, and it clearly inspires you!! So, your purpose is not just about demanding respect for all, but generating it and creating an environment where respect will flourish and flow! That kicks butt. |

| Yes indeed. I had a huge grin after I wrote that post. Quote:
Even when I was thinking of "Help people free themselves", there were many concepts that could come out of that. The one I felt most attracted to was that of helping people free themselves from bullies and those who would intimidate them. Which I now realize goes back to this respect thing |

| My mom told me this back when I was a kid...and it's now something I tell my own children. The purpose of your life is to go thru it and when you're at the end, you've made some aspect of the world a better place. It might be better for your family, it might be better for a city, it might be better for the world, but the main point it - the world is a better place because you've been in it. Enjoy, Barbara |

| Mine is currently to live long enough to be able to, through technological advancements that are going to happen in this century, achieve biological immortality, which is the absence of aging (but of course i'd still be vulnerable to accidents and physical injuries). If i can become very rich to be able to fund many researches concerning various fields of technology, the better.

| I don't know if it has any special "feeling" for me. It's just the thing that keeps popping up in my head over and over again, no matter how hard I try to get rid of it by doing something else. |

| Hi all, My life purpose: To help businesses and marketplace individuals achieve success in their work/life and overcome challenges. Approach: I'm achieving my life purpose through providing business consultancy and mentoring. How did I find my purpose? - It took me a while to really explain with confidence, certainty and succintly what my life purpose is. I was able to articulate it about 3 years ago but I did not have the confidence or certainty. The certainty I'm referring to is the state where I know and I know and I know this is my purpose and doing anything else is really not me. - It took me a while because I had to ascertain my natural strengths and that which brings me satisfaction even when things get tough. I did this by engaging in different activities, talking to people who knew me and did personality tests like Myers Briggs. Further, I had to discover who I am before I can really articulate my life purpose with certainty. Difference between knowing and living your life purpose - There is a distinct difference, in my case, between knowing what your life purpose is and living it. I have met people who are living their life purpose and they never seem to go out of energy or passion in their purposes especially when things are very bleak. This is one mark of a person living his/her life purpose. - After knowing my life purpose (able to articulate it) I was not able to live it because of external circumstances and some personal issues I had to start resolving. One of these external circumstances was I had to carve a niche and establish myself as an expert in that field. Personal issues I had to resolve were issues such as insecurity, procrastination, attitudes and bad living habits. How I bridged the gap between knowing and living my life purpose? - I had a lot of support and advice from friends who are in the HR industry, people who specializes in human resource and veterans. Note that I was proactive; I sought them out and asked them for help. I didn't wait for them to come to me. - I drew up a plan on achieving my life purpose; I had a life purpose statement, I explained why this is my life purpose, I broke down my goals into near term and long term, I took each of the goals and further broke it into actionable-scheduled items. I am still striving towards my life purpose Yes I am. I doing it now but I am still learning and striving towards it. It is really a journey. Cheers! |

| well I'm sure there is something mentally screwy about it but it works. Obviously you can't take thoughts at face value. If I kept telling myself to wash my hands 24/7, I don't think I'd consider that a life purpose. |

| I think you can have the obsessions alone in something called pure 'O' but that apparently is pretty rare, so it doesn't have to invovle handwashing or a similar compulsion but in any case i was kidding. The way you put it just sounded funny. |
