| I disagree with that "only" part. "We are made of star stuff." -- Carl Sagan One of the most beautiful consequences of science is that our humanity includes the fact that we are made from the same thing the Sun and the stars are. To be human is a wondrous thing. Last edited by Michael Chui; 11-10-2006 at 09:46 AM. Reason: This wasn't a criticism. |

To get my genes into the next generation (done) and to help my offspring do the same by bring them up in the best way I know. To enjoy life and be successful not only in business but in all areas I touch. To make my partner as happy as possible during our time together. To encourage as many people I can through example, that killing and eating animals is unceccessary and wrong. To leave as small an ecological footprint on this planet whilst I live. |

You know, for the past 2-3 years I have constantly wondered what the meaning of life is. I still havent found the answer, however after progressing through some more chapters in "Think and Grow Rich"-by Napoleon Hill, Im beginning to think, instead of trying to figure out life, we must define it to what we want it to be. So from today onwards my life purpose is as follows; I will smile, I will be happy, I will be happy around others. I am strong in faith, emotionally positive, humble and honest. I will achieve great things for myself and be successfull in my own right. And finally I will take part in community and make significant contributions to society. (I will revise this as time goes on, but right now im in a buzz |

Wow, StarSeed, what you said: "To live in each moment, and enjoy each moment without trying to get somewhere. To feel the divine flow of all there is and have it guide me " really struck me. It literally jumped off the page. Now, I'm not so much the "creating art, writing, music" kind of person... but the rest of it I can't quite get out of my mind. It really struck a chord with me. Thank you for sharing that. I may have found the start of my search for my purpose as I really haven't had a clue up to this point. |

To help people feel that their life is worth living. I did Steve’s exercise previously, but didn’t get anywhere. I just figured out that calling today. Hooray! Right now the vehicle for this calling is music. |

I've been a reader of Steve's work for a while, ever since a friend of mine suggested that AdSense had some interesting ideas ("There's this guy, Steve Pavlina, he's pulling down $6k/month!" yeah, it was a while ago). A lot of his posts and podcasts have spoken to me, a former entrepreneur (ok, that's negative thinking...an "Entrepreneur currently taking a break with a time-based pay position."). Anyway, as a Zen Buddhist, my life "purpose" doesn't really apply--I'm not here to do anything, I'm just here. That being said, I have identified what three qualities of life I want to develop both in myself and to share with others: Grace. Beauty. Passion. I picture them sometimes, like a great Roman crest or somesuch. And yeah, I'm here on the forums mainly for the Grace and Passion that I find here. |

I am passionate about technology, and the use of technology to enable people, from connecting with loved ones to regaining lost abilities (sight, etc.). In my experience, most technology is unnecessarily difficult. For example, my mother needs 'tech support' constantly, and for very simple things that I've shown her how to do numerous times. I don't mean to imply that she's stupid, however. It's a case of 'How do I do that again? Where was that option in this program?', and I've had plenty of experience with it, myself. Digital cameras with mystery buttons, Linux distros with with config files in strange formats and in strange places, etc. One of the ideas I'm tossing around for my blog is to write about technology and usability, with an occasional review of a product (hardware or software) that is really groundbreaking in its power and simplicity. |

To glorify God and enjoy him forever. with God, life is a meaningless flash, you can't take it with you, and you can't leave it behind if you don't believe in God. If all matter tends towards chaos, there is no hope for man without God. But God is not an arbitrary thing created for hope but rather, hope is necessary becuase it was designed to be so. |

| To joyously create. This actually means a lot of things to me: - It's a constant reminder that I don't want to take life too seriously, and that my internal emotional state always prevails over external factors. - It expresses and reinforces my inner desire to create and learn, to acquire knowledge and abilities, to branch out and experiment, and to do so for the highest good of all. - It helps me put failure and fear in perspective. - And hardly last, it reminds me that I am never alone, that I am always deeply loved, appreciated, and valued, and that the entire universe is on my side. I'll have to credit Abraham (Ask and it is Given) for helping me clarify and truly understand this. |

I feel like I'm coming out. My purpose in life is to: Express God in every moment, Passionately experience and share physical vitality, soulful relationships, and financial abundance, Call forth the Divinity in others and help them uniquely express it, and Heighten spiritual awareness. |

Honestly I don't know what my life purpose is. And I don't even know what I'm really passionate about. The only thing I know is that I used to have a dog, Kiky and she's given me so much in this life that she was my passion. But for now I should say being fully present in life, to see things as they are and to keep things simple are my purpose in life. And of course ultimately, to be happy and knowing that you've lived your life as you want it to and not others'. |

Personal development through the backdoor. PD is fantastic, and I want to draw as many people towards it as I can. But most people are resistant to the concept of change due to things like fear, anger, jealousy, poor self-belief, etc. They need that epiphany, that realization that they are not static but a dynamic, ever-changing being, and that they can embrace change for the better. My intent, therefore, is to entertain people through writing, but with a subtext of encouraging this epiphany. It's difficult, of course, because there's an implicit agenda here and I have to avoid being too preach-y about it. But that's what I want to do and how I want to do it - poke people gently in the direction of self improvement. Wohoo! |

My understanding of my life purpose is tocultivate the freedom, joy, and abundance within myself and extend it to the entire world. Sharing this prosperity, compassion, and education with everyone who is willing to learn. Turning starving villages into self-sustaining communities? |

They are ways too many ppl fall ill on chronic disease without knowing that the food, emotion & environment are the major factors of their problem. With enough money and external support , I wish to be able to build a medical center modelled over Dr MCdougall life science center with the primary purpose of healing those who are deemed incurable by the conventional medication.

My dear therapist Laura suggested this as my life purpose when I was speaking to her about it a few weeks ago. I agree with her but I'm unsure if it's truly it but, hey, it nearly made me cry. It's to learn to love myself. I think becoming truly happy is as profound as a blanket aid to many people.

| To face life with Strength and courage To be humble, honest, pure and to grow To love, support and protect my family and friends To be in balance with and enjoy the flow of life That's my current Life Purpose, but I still feel it needs some fine-tunning, but none the less, it get's me up and going in the morning |

hmmm... that's a bit of a toughie just out of the blue like that... I personally think that things like "to love" and "to be happy" are missing the point of the question. That might be things that are worthwhile doing while you're here, but it would be a shame to come all this way just for that... you could have done THAT back in the womb... things like "to try hard in the face of adversity" or "to constantly push myself" are just self-denial wrapped up as hype. You should do those things anyway... those things are just tools you can use on your way to fulfilling your purpose. You're a long time dead - are you sure that Struggle is a end in and of itself? Ok. So. I'm a human. What do humans do? What value will my existence add to the great mineral nothingness of the universe? What makes a human different to a rock? I think my purpose is: to understand. I think that I'm here to take a look around and be a witness to reality. You've heard of Cogito Ergo Sum? Well I think it's the wrong way around, it should be "I think therefore it is." Last edited by evilbrent; 12-06-2006 at 10:44 AM. Reason: wanted my signature to show up. |
