Machoman, I love your quote from Michael Losier - “Remember, you attract to your life whatever you give your attention, energy and focus to, whether wanted or unwanted.” Michael J. Losier Michael Losier has had a huge impact on me and my life purpose. He was a speaker on a teleconference that we just had and he was amazing. He has a way of really simplifying the Law of Attraction and motivating you to follow your purpose. |

Actually, this is one of the areas I'm struggling with right now. I used to be very religious in a particular church, and my religion provided a lot of my purpose in life. I became disillusioned in it over time after a very negative incident occurred in my congregation that inspired me to take a hard look at the beliefs and claims of the church, why I attend. Eventually I realized something was wrong. I made a difficult decision to part ways with the church after many years of devoted service, and still feel I'm better off having done so, and at the same time feel a little lost. I haven’t found a new purpose of life to equal the one I used to have. I'm still looking for something, but it has to be real, not theoretical, and for me theological is often just too close to theoretical. *Starman |

What was you old purpose, Starman? If it was something like, "to be a servant of Christ/soldier of Christ," maybe you can figure out what Christ or church represented to you? Love, peace, [pick your favorite fruit of the spirit].

To become an inspirational storm of determination, regardless of the choices I make. To break boundaries and free myself of limiting beliefs. To seek the wonder, beauty, love and enlightenment in everything, then find ways to bring all of these to others in a powerful message.

I don't know whether it's because I'm approaching 40 but this question and everything it means has a real resonance right now. The problem is I haven't really got an answer that I'm comfortable with. If we just talk about career for the moment I am having to face one the biggest, if not biggest decisions in my life. I've said before I need a change but what I do is pretty much all I know. I need to strike out on my own but there is the fear of not providing for my family. Even if I did go I'm not clear what I would be offering to customers. I've been looking at alternative employment in the areas that I'm most skilled in but I'm uninspired to a degree that's almost frightening. It's: 'No, I just don't want to do that'. The positive thing is that this tells me to look elsewhere but this creates a gulf between my personal and family needs and level of ability at something else. I will have to take the jump, I know I will but it's the direction I am unsure of right now. I started my job five years ago as of tomorrow and for 3 1/2 years I've been thinking about leaving. I can't keep on thinking, I have to start doing. |

What is my life purpose? To live the life I intended to live here. That is to learn and apply what I learn for my own benefit - and combine my benefit with the benefit of the community, which is the same thing. |

Since my last post in this thread I've been going through viewpoints like nothing else... anyway I could say my ultimate purpose is to be enlightened, with all the caveats about the difficulties in that term. Simply put, I've taken a step back from myself and seen how nuts I am, and other people are. I want to find that which is irreducible in myself. I would also like to help others reach this point, though I don't know how much I can do while I'm still a seeker.

People find purpose when they can achieve self actualization. I found purpose by letting go. I let go of the things I thought I needed to own. I let go of preconcieved notions, like what my parents expected me to become or what status my career meant. On a personal note, what really pushed me in the right direction, is that I discovered positive reinforcement training for my animals. It was really hard for me to totally give up punishments, corrections, or yelling. Our society teaches aggression and manipulation. Once I finally broke throght that and trained using only postive things, a lightbulb went off in my head. I don't ever have to be in control or pushy or aggressive. I could just LET GO. It was so liberating! And to get great results with the animasl using this approach proved I could still get the goals I wanted. Then I starting using it towards people, in relationships, and internally. I found happiness when my life swang back into balance. I could do things for myself and not feel guitly, but I also did selfless acts of charity towards others. I learned how to GIVE a compliment. Now I make a point to give at least a few compliments a day, and I can find something good about everyone I meet. Feeling content and balanced opened me up to trying new things (and really absorbing the entireity of the new experience). I am willing to take the path less travelled. You never know where life might take you! Life is a journey, not a destination. |

Coming back to this thread again, huh.. In its own perfect time, effortlessly, for the highest good of all: I intend for my suffering to come to a conclusion, to reach the sea I flow towards, to live with meaning and joy, for my free will to remain sovereign, to express my natural self, for beauty and creation to flow through me and to know what I truly am. Let it be so Last edited by Buttercat Apocalypse; 10-22-2008 at 01:04 AM. |

Hey, I do not know if I've found my life purpose yet. But I know things like beautifully designed books, functional chairs, simple websites (Daniel Mall: Philadelphia-based Art Direction & Design), typography with character (that one slid through!) always made me cry. I simply want to hold well-designed books and keep looking at them while tears roll down. I can't think of anything else right now that would could be my life purpose. Is the exercise working? I hope it is. Have any suggestions, thoughts...? Cheers, Prabu! |

Discover the answer toward 'What is your life purpose?' is not easy for me. It's take time. The first time that I have to give an answer to this question, I found my answers around material acquisition. However, by lacking enthusiasm to take any action, I determined that my real purpose in life is not to acquire materials. Then I keep on asking myself. By realized the reality that our body is not last long, I living my life mainly to patiently pay all debts I owe others and enjoy my soul. With patiently, it is naturally for me to intensively improve inner parts, adversity, emotional, and spiritual quotient. The reality is; all materials we pose; money, house, cars, clothes are leaving on Earth on our last day. No matter we want to giveaway or not, we cannot take it with. That is the fact of life. Enjoy this movie. The Dash. |

To make you go "Wow." My purpose is to make you see how everything is different, and then make you see how everything is the same, and then make you see how everything is different again! Contrasts and metaphors, I do it through music, sound, eyes, colors, lines, shapes, images, words, stories. I manipulate the world - even though it really stays the same. I'm an illusionist, but I'm real, I'm honest. I'm Shakespeare! " 'C'est la vie!' say the old folks; it goes to show you never can tell." (warning: This 'purpose' is going to seem enormously hypocritical once you read the rest of this. and i am aware.) My other purpose is to have buns of steel. I am determined to look like Heidi Klum. Everyone has the same purpose it seems. From Think and Grow Rich, Hill said that a purpose like 'grow and inspire and be the best' is about as specific as a frog's ability to compare of the size and capacity of the entire universe to itself. I don't think that "Inspire" or "be the best" or "end war" is a purpose. It can't be. I'm not driven by generalities like that for some reason. It's too easy to rationalize anything into the category of "inspiring". Eating a salad today 'inspired' my mom to throw away the potato chips. Purpose fufilled, I can die now. No! What was Micheal Phelps purpose? I don't know if such a broad scope of thinking could've led him to win 8 gold medals. "To inspire?" or "To swim 24 laps in 8 minutes and 34 seconds and 6 milliseconds." Do you see? They are synonyms (breaking a record is inspiring) but one is a purpose, the other is just a feeling. Henry Ford? To "change the world"? "Do the impossible"? No. To "build the first automobile with a V8 engine and watch everyone in America drive the same car." Correct me if I'm wrong. You guys need to do your homework. (and so do I) Last edited by dice; 12-17-2008 at 09:07 AM. |

When I did my reading with Erin, though, she mentioned a part of my purpose (I think it was implicit that I'd find out the rest of my purpose for myself. I didn't ask further because I had other things to worry about) and it was like, "oh yeah, that's obvious". It was something I had always known, that I had already been living. I was just being reminded of it. Quote:
