Has anyone else ever done the Myers-Briggs self-tests? I was so relieved to finally find something that hits the mark. If you want you can see what you are here. You could basically scroll down to the middle of the page and just decide if you're... Extraverted or Introverted Sensing or iNtuitive Thinking or Feeling Judging or Perceiving It's completely right on, thank goodness. I was an INTP, The Thinker, btw. | The INTP is usually very independent, unconventional, and original. They are not likely to place much value on traditional goals such as popularity and security. They are strongly ingenious, and have unconventional thought patterns which allows them to analyze ideas in new ways. Consequently, a lot of scientific breakthroughs in the world have been made by the INTP. Last edited by Lenie; 09-03-2008 at 02:08 PM. |

Even though my knowledge of the personality types came from the book, not the website, it's still so comforting to read what it has to say. Especially about parenting: In spite of their relatively unstructured approach to parenting, INTPs take their role as parent very seriously, and are likely to put forth much effort into doing what they feel will be most effective in helping their children grow into independent, wise adults. INTPs enjoy parenting, and get a lot of fun out of their children. They're also likely to be very proud and loyal parents. |

Hey Lenie! My MBTI is similar to yours: INTJ. Although INTJs and INTPs have many differences.. "INTJ Independent, original, analytical, and determined. Have an exceptional ability to turn theories into solid plans of action. Highly value knowledge, competence, and structure. Driven to derive meaning from their visions. Long-range thinkers. Have very high standards for their performance, and the performance of others. Natural leaders, but will follow if they trust existing leaders." http://www.keirsey.com/handler.aspx?...5&c=mastermind And here's a forum for discussions of the MBTI: MBTI Central - Powered by vBulletin And this one is for your buddies INTPs: INTP Central - Powered by vBulletin Last edited by Sam988; 09-03-2008 at 04:56 PM. |

That is the root of all conflict. When you label yourself, you're ego has to defend "who you are." Let go of identity. Live in the now. It's the only moment that's real. It's the only time you have any power over. Stay present and shed the ego. Don't compound your problems with more labels. Read Eckhart Tolle. All good things. |

Finding your "label" (as in MBTI) allows you to view other sides of you that you weren't seing before and comprehend yourself better. But i agree that one can't try to "fit into" the label, but rather to use it in a way that will help the person to find parts of him that he didn't see clearly before.

Not at all, Dannyboy, I don't seek to. Just stumbled on this book (Please Understand Me II) in the library yesterday. It caught my attention because it was a book my parents had in the bookcase growing up. It just felt so affirming; I was fascinated at what I found so just thought I'd share it here, in case anyone else was interested. After all: INTPs do not like to lead or control people. The INTP has no understanding or value for decisions made on the basis of personal subjectivity or feelings. They strive constantly to achieve logical conclusions to problems, and don't understand the importance or relevance of applying subjective emotional considerations to decisions. For this reason, INTPs are usually not in-tune with how people are feeling, and are not naturally well-equiped to meet the emotional needs of others. I guess that's why, to answer your question. I read Tolle, though. Thanks. Last edited by Lenie; 09-03-2008 at 08:10 PM.

Great link in there. I will be taking the test right after I post this reply. Maybe it could help us more to define and understand ourselves much better. Thanks a lot for this one. I see that you are also involved in GPT...I am also...maybe we could share some ideas on this. |

Reading Tolle is like smoking weed. It has its uses, but smoking too much makes it the 60's again. EDIT: Your personality type is ENTP. Extraverted (E) 68% Introverted (I) 32% Intuitive (N) 59% Sensing (S) 41% Thinking (T) 55% Feeling (F) 45% Perceiving (P) 73% Judging (J) 27% I wonder how close that is to my last result. I always score INTP and the descriptions for it fit me very well. But I think about feelings a lot so I wonder about the T in there, how accurate it is. I don't quite fit the profile for INFP, although I do like to make music and be creative and have enjoyed success as a counselor for the mentally ill. I want to be an entrepreneur, or at least be self-employed. I don't think my personality type fits well, but I feel a need to prove to myself I can do it, as an expression of my need to be independent.

I'm increasingly thinking there's a strong correlation between being an "N" and a lightworker and vice versa Sensing types like positional power, whereas many successful Ns, like Ben Franklin and Thomas Edison, completely rejected societal authority and did their own thing. Ns like to create new things, which is very much in line with LW, while Ss like to dominate existing things, which is very much in line with DW. ENTJs are known for being great leaders, but typically they use principles in doing so, and don't just grab power for its own sake. Many ENTJs, I'd say Bill Parcells and Vince Lombardi were just tow, use unconventional tactics, while an S, like Richard Gephardt, is good at getting things done through conventional channels. Not a perfect correlation, but in my own experience, I see a lot of Ss who are very good at their day jobs, but have been miserable entrepreneurs. And Ns who can barely get through a workday, but have been exceptional entrepreneurs. Don't like the darkwork/lightwork terminology, because it makes people sound like Darth Vader or something, but I'd be willing to bet that majority of polarized S types focus on taking, while majority of polarized N types focus on making. |

If you want to be certain of your personality type, I would suggest taking the written Myers-Briggs Type Indicator test at a local career center, counseling center, university/college campus career center, or therapist office. I am an INTJ.

I think there is an unusually large concentration of NT's on these boards, which is what makes them so much fun for me. NT's are usually a pretty rare type. I always scored INTJ growing up, but have been leaning towards the P more lately.

I didn't know there were a large number of NTs on here, since we're pretty rare to begin with...
