Hello there This is my first post here and I apologize in advance, because it will be unusual. I have read with great interest several astrological threads here and was provoked because there is some level of basic misunderstanding about astrology. I see several members would like to learn how it works, and would like to have a special case study in which astrology "triumphs". So, I have decided to take this bull by the horns and present a horoscope of one entity that we all know and care about -- the horoscope of StevePavlina.com, the blog. This is not the horoscope of Steve Pavlina himself, but the chart of his blog. On 18th of May 2007 I emailed Steve asking for his natal data and he declined to give them to me (as I expected). Since I actually wanted to see the astrological explanation of why his blog is so successful, I then asked when was the first post published on his blog. He gave me the date and place, but could not cite the time. No problem, since in web site analysis, I take the horary approach, meaning I make the time of me creating the chart to be the time of the "birth" of a blog. I then proceeded to write and publish this post on my blog and A) Bloggers all over the world will be able to see what it takes astrologically to be successful, B) We'll see what made this blog be so successful. C) Finally, we can all see what kind of prediction one can expect from such a reading. In case of StevePavlina.com, it is about Steve's writing his own book on self development and when will it become successful. Note. Following some reasons of my own, I have recently republished this post about StevePavlina.com. You may go to my blog and see that the date is not from 2007 but from 2008, still, I haven't changed one word from the original version. (Steve, I believe, had chance to see it last year when it was originally published.) Here is the article: =================================== You have probably heard of StevePavlina.com, a blog that is making 40,000 dollars a month only after 2 1/2 years being online. It currently has 2.4 million views per month, and that is a lot views, probably from 1 million visitors each month. How do we see this astrologically? Here is the chart: ![]() I do not know whether this is the actual chart, it is a horary chart made for the day of birth. I call it the Savic’s Horary Chart of a Site, because we usually know the date the site went live but we do not know either the place or the time of the “birth” of the site. So I use the horary method, meaning that I make the chart for the time I feel like making it, for my home town, Beograd (Belgrade) in Serbia. This method has served me well so far, as you can see from the other posts of sites’s charts on this blog. The real test, of course, is whether the chart describes well the entity that it should portray. In this case, let us have a look what makes a good blog astrologically. A blog is a telling, writing, speech, direct communication etc. so the following chart elements must be strongly occupied in the chart: – Mercury, – Gemini, – the third house, and – the 3rd and the 15th degrees of any sign. Ideally, you should work at it everyday, a clue which leads us to either the – sign of Virgo, or to the – 6th house. This is theory, and what do we see in the chart: Mercury is in the sign of Libra, which is an excellent placement. Mercury in Libra will have a lot to say, and a lot to judge and/or critique. The third house starts at 10 degrees of Cancer and ends at 0 degrees of Leo. 10 Cancer means aspirations are high, it’s blogging with a higher purpose — blogging as a career. Number 10 is akin to the 10th sign, the Capricorn, ruled by Saturn, the Lord of Time. A good part of this blog will be about organizing things, proper use of personal resources and time, time management etc. Saturn on 26 degrees od Cancer is in the third house, which is a determined and often too logical a mind, a kind of an inspector. Will keep his words to a minimum and say only what needs to be said, and be always prepared. Retrograde Uranus is on 3 of Pisces, while Mars is on 3 of Libra. It is an exact inconjunction, the aspect of adjustment and is the main reason this blog has so much impact on changing people’s lives: Uranus and Mars tied together in this way mean an action (Mars) can be done to change (Uranus) something. Now, Mars in Libra is in detriment, meaning it is normally not as efficient as one might like, but there are no less than four planets in the begininng of Libra: – Jupiter on 1 Libra, – Mars on 3 Libra, – Mercury on 5 Libra, and – the Sun on 8 Libra. The explosive growth of traffic to this site is due to the strong Jupiter in the mix. The 1st degree of a sign is like Aries, and Steve does have his Sun in Aries, so he just has to be there personally and the traffic will grow and grow and grow. It is a remarkable coincidence indeed, and the more that he writes about what he does — the stronger the Jupiter can be, and that directly translates to the phenomenal growth of the site. Jupiter and Mars in the 5th house are personal creativity, while Mercury and the Sun are in the 6th house, which means he can, he should and he has actually done that — i.e. write and post every day. These of course, is the Holy Grail of blogging, but 99% of nascending bloggers won’t have such aspects in the blog’s charts, and there will be no appeal to write so often. Actually, with the Sun in the 6th house, the blog would quickly dwindle without Steve’s working on it every day. Uranus on the 3rd degree of Pisces means that he will give away (Uranus likes freebies) information for free. Uranus is retrograde, he goes back toward the start of the 10th house on 0 Aquarius, so this blog is a career in itself. Uranus in the 11th house is using the Internet for the distribution, a group of people who gather around this site, a community and a sense of belonging to the group… the site has to have a community element built into it, such as forum. A large part of the blog will run around the notion of spirituality. Neptune is on 12 Aquarius, trining the Sun on 8 Libra, so a part of the appeal of the site is bringing the new (Aquarius) elements of spirituality (Neptune, especially on 12th degree of any sign), trine the Sun — which the readers can embrace into their lives. How can the site be monetized? The ruler of the 2nd house is Mercury on 5 Libra, in the 6th house. The primary monetization generator is working every day on the site and publishing as often as possible, at least once a day. As long as that is the case, Mars and Jupiter will make sure that there is growth. The Moon co-rules the 2nd house and is on 17 Taurus in the 12th house — dreams and subconsciousness. Indeed, one of the categories on StevePavlina.com blog is Lucid Dreaming — lux in Latin would be light, and what else the Moon is to the humankind than Light while we sleep (the 12th house)!? As for the subconsciousness, the Moon is also Steve’s wife, Erin. After a year or so of the existence of StevePavlina.com, she started her own psychic (12th house) practice (Mars rules the 12th house and is in the 6th house of servicing others), with a blog and forum of its own. The Sun on 8 Libra is very good for monetizing through reviews, while Pluto on 19 Sagittarius, in the beginning of the 8th house, lends itself well to affiliate marketing, especially since the 25th of November 2006 and up to the Spring of 2008. After that, Jupiter will be in the 9th house, a house of distant distribution and publishing at large. This naturally leads to another shift in monetization of the site: as is already stated in the blog, Steve will write and sell his own books, ebooks, courses, DVDs and the like in the near future. From the movements of Jupiter we see that there is no need to hurry, affiliate marketing now works better (and will continue to do so all through the 2007), while his own material will really take off in the first half of 2009. |

Welcome! Neat stuff. I can't think of many comments (yet?), but, it's neat to see more astrological posts around here lately. I just would like to point out that the time the first post was published appears to be available on this page, in the box above the comments: First post Quote:

I guess chances are good that the time zone is the time zone for Las Vegas: Mountain Time. If that's so, here's the astrological data for the first post (assuming it was posted from Las Vegas): -qa Oct 1 2004 20:56 MDT 115:08W 36:10N If that's the correct chart, it's kind of cool that it has Taurus rising, just like DuskoSavic's horary chart. |

Oops, looks like I had the wrong chart. Daylight Savings and time zone issues are so annoying... I just now double-checked the chart by trying out the data at an astrology website which does a lot of calculations/time zone/Daylight Savings stuff for you automatically, Astrodienst. And, it turned out the chart actually has Gemini rising, not Taurus rising, but, the chart still very much resembles DuskoSavic's horary chart. This command line can be copied and pasted into the free software Astrolog 5.40 to produce the chart: -qa Oct 1 2004 20:56 +7 115:08W 36:10N Note, I still don't know whether the blog actually uses Mountain Time or not - I'm just assuming it does - and I also don't know if the blog post was posted from Las Vegas, so the above data could _still_ be wrong. Hi First of all, thanks to all of you here who had kind words for publishing a horoscope on this site, out of the blue, so to speak. I have now added video horoscope for StevePavlina.com which can be found on www.duskosavic.com, and perhaps more easily, on YouTube: Part I here and Part II here. |

I second the neat stuff comment. I used to think astrology was a huge waste of time, then an astrologer gave me a long paper on myself based on where and when I was born. It was as detailed, precise and specific as the Myers-Briggs personality test I'd taken a few years before. They pretty much said the same things (and they, um, didn't lie!). Frankly, that blew my mind. I enjoyed this. Keep up the good work! |
