| Sponges: absorb things from their environment with great ease. Words, ideas, even other people's emotions. You feel like one with your environment and become moved easily by what you see, and perhaps by what other people think of you. You find that you adapt your mannerisms slightly, depending on who you're talking to. Rocks: you're a bit more closed to the world - you're not an open book and you're not easily affected. You are proficient at "separating" yourself from you environment, and from your own inner experience. You can entertain many different thoughts and viewpoints, without actually accepting them. You mannerisms are more consistent, so you don't adapt them very much to other people. What do you think? Which are you (if you had to choose, and be honest), and how could we find a good balance point? Like a spongy rock. Or rocky sponge. |

Why not both? You are essentially describing personality masks: I can pretend to get along with people, copy their mannerisms, and flow with them. I can also sit back and evaluate the situation without being emotionally attached. Sponge rock it is! |

Neither. I would be water! "Be formless... shapeless like water. If you put water into a cup, it becomes the cup. You put water into a bottle; it becomes the bottle. You put it into a teapot; it becomes the teapot. Water can flow, and it can crash. Be water, my friend." ~ Bruce Lee |

I feel like I'm a rock that's wrapped in a sponge. I'm always thinking and calculating, but things don't really affect me until I consciously decide to take them in.
