changing the world thru filmmaking

hello hello
i currently run a project where we encouraging everyday people to make films on social change,
we make it into a competition where we usually partner a filmmaker with a non-profit organization and ask them to come up with a 5 minute short film..

so far we have had a lot of success
where the non-profit organizations are able to spread the word about what they do, as well as educate the filmmakers about these causes

but we have also shown how they can make a difference by using art to make a change...

alot of these filmmakers have gone on to make full-fledge documentaries about these organizations...
as well as ...a few of them had never made a film before and were engineers, bankers, housewives ...and now have turned to making films

now... the thing is...we are planning another round of this
and were looking for ideas on how we can expand this same concept...
where we can include more filmmakers but also make a better impact on society by encouraging more people to take up some of these causes

any ideas?

Im studying management and business administration and when I finish I will do something that I always wanted to do, filmaking.. I will do a postgrade in my college about this, and I want to learn about these.
changing peoples life thru filmaking is one of my dreams.
so... Im from Chile , I dont have any good ideas now, but you can count on me!

who are you aiming this at? everyday people? what is your presence like on youtube?

there are a lot of amatuer documentary makers out there but i guess your biggest problem is reaching out to them all. a competition is a great idea in getting people to join you, perhaps if you could hold it on youtube where people can vote for their favorite short 5 minute film on your website

you do have a website dont you? it shoudl talk about your mission, your history, what you have achieved so far and maybe include profiles of some of your film makers documenting their journey from humble beginings to full feature films so that others will be inspired and follow in their footsteps.

a message board where people can network and talk about the direction of the project would also be a good idea especially if you want to foster a community. if a forum or community already exists approach them to work together, a big problem with all the Change Makers out there in the world is that they're too fractured, everyones trying to go there own way which is the worst thing to do because there is power in numbers and only by working together will we ever acheive the change we need.
