Default Wanting without Needing

I just thought I'd share something that might be of value. It's about that paradox of "wanting without needing".

1. Identify all the desires that you have (from materialistic to spiritual, there are no rules).
2. Identify the feeling of fulfillment that you would feel from obtaining all of your desires.
3. From memory or imagination, evoke that feeling of fulfillment fully right now as a mind-body-emotional state.
4. Identify one thing that you could do towards achieving the goals identified in Step1.
5. Act from that state of fulfillment towards your goal RIGHT NOW!

It's simple, I know. Easier said than done? I don't really think so. I think this is more about transcending the quick-fix-magic-pill-mentality.

Anyway, I hope that helps.

Thanks

Den

A nice technique

I still have trouble getting the specific of division of want and needs. I understand the difference between what the body needs and what I want. But the difference between I want and I need I find harder to separate logically

I hope the following helps:

Want = "I can feel the feeling of fulfilment now, so I don't "need" the outcome and can just enjoy the journey."
Need = "I choose to be unhappy until I get the outcome."

I am not quite sure that works as my body needs food and water regardless of how I may feel about it .

Yes that helps somewhat. From the point of view of not worrying about the body.
