Default You don’t find it, You must make it.(Purpose in life)

I just want to share the lesson i learned while I am on the stage of seeking my purpose and while I am doing it i have this realization that help me to make my path on purposely living and become awared that i am already living in a purpose and I have many oppurtunity to become more valueble in life. I dont intend to become offensive on someones belief but the purpose why i am posting this is to become additional option on creating a life with purpose

Sorry for my Bad English

You don’t find it, You must make it.

Most of us think that we have a built-in purpose to our lives like their grand parents turn-over their family business to him so his purpose is to continue what his great grand parents started. Some people who was involved on some events or tragedy in their life like rape, cancer, drug addiction or workaholic then they win the trauma and challenges, they took that as a sign that they must help others who was on the same position that they been thru before. Some people has no idea what is the purpose of his life so he make research, meditations, interviews and how-to-find-purpose exercise. What I’ve learn on having a purpose in life is that your decision make your purpose. Some people want to help the cancer victims rather than accepting their family business , some ex-alcoholic want to run business rather than help the alcoholic patients, some people who have no idea what his purpose has decided to follow his fathers business rather find what he really wants, it all depends on a human’s decision so it means having a purpose is not about finding signs and symbols who you must become but deciding right now what you want to become and do the things you must do and be ready to the challenges that may stop you. We make our purpose and it is not dependent on the signs and symbols or to our autobiography its all on our hands what purpose we must do. Start deciding now, you may think that “how if my choice is not what I want?” then from the experience of your first choice you decide what kind of worthy activity you want, maybe you want to build something, share something or write something. The process of creation is not just imagination and planning there must me a implementation, do what you think and from your act you evaluate and note down what is good and bad then think what may be the solution for the bad notes you have. Most of great inventors made their invention not because they saw signs and symbol that they must make this or that, what they do is create what they want, they decided that someday human’s will fly too, someday we don’t need horse to travel and from those vision they made a useful creation today. You must make it because you will never going to find it.

I personally would think its both. I found that my general guiding purpose is written on my heart. I know it so intrinsically that it is a fundamental part of me. I can't just go and replace my purpose with another equally valid purpose because mine is completely attached to me. Now that I've found it I can make it happen.

I would say that the purpose written on my heart is a compass needle. It points me in the general direction that I should go in life. Then I find destinations that I can see on my map and start walking through uncharted territory to reach my destinations. That is the "you must make it" aspect to your comment.

So again I personally find that both are true.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

I love what Eckhart Tolle says about purpose: Your purpose is whatever you are doing right now.

That makes so much sense to me.

Searching for something can leave us feeling empty. Finding purpose in what we are doing now, fills you up!

I'd personally disagree with that. I spent my life up till a year ago just goofing off and playing video games or doing things that were "fun". I definately didn't have a purpose worth living for in that sense of the meaning.

I do agree that finding purpose in what we are doing now can fill you up. At the same time it is at best a quick fix if you aren't where your heart's purpose is. For example if I spent my life in world of warcraft and my heart's purpose is to serve the needs of the poor I could only gain so much value in world of warcraft. Its at best a counterfit purpose. I've done alot of sould searching and I found my heart's desire (purpose). I would not trade any of that searching for anything. The motivation I have is incredible because I know that what I'm doing is worthwhile.

Currently I'm in a job that I don't see working for me long term. So what am I doing about it? I am working to transition to owning my own business. In the meantime I find purpose in my work by honing my skills in areas that benefit me in all aspects of life. So things like time management, discipline, honesty, and integrity. I would not be satisfied long term here. Yet in the short term I can find value in what I do no matter where I am at.

Thanks for the post Rak. "Finding" a purpose seems to work well for some, judging by all the books and articles out there. As I've mentioned elsewhere on this forum, I diligently tried that approach for years. In the end, however, conscious choice was what proved most effective for me, so I'm in general agreement with your thoughts. To each his own I say.

Your are welcome Ecce Homo and thank you for your appriciation.

Yeah! you know there is nothing wrong if we choose to follow our callings like following the path of our grand parents or improving our in-born talents but we can also choose the other way which is deciding what we want, not because our parents want it or because we born on that way so we will just follow thru.

For me the best example is Wilma Rudolph, if you gonna read here biography that is the best example of showing the power of choice or you may call it decision, dream or intention. She make her way to become a great athlete despite the fact that everybody want here to quit because of her sickness. She dont find any sign and symbols but she create a bridge to transport her dream to reality.

Thank you for your appriciation jawillie and your welcome.

I agree on Eckhart, what you are doing now is your purpose, the question is he aware on his purpose? maybe he is pro-life but he/she is allowing people to abort unwanted pregnancy.

Yup, its both some people born to become a politician but instead they choose to become an actor and vice-versa. We have the freedom to "choose". It is both and its up to you which you want to choose.
