| I'm looking for ways to increase the overall character of society in general. This is for a personal project i'm working on. Please leave religion out of it. This could be things that we do with children in school to increase the likliness that they'll have good character as an adult, etc. Broad and specific ideas are both welcomed. Thanks! |

| i understand what you say, and i know this. however, i'm looking for broader, society-based solutions. for my project, the individual element is not a valid means of change. |

| It's really very simple. Have a purpose as a nation and work towards it. Our purpose as a country is made implicit in the constitution: We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America. However, the constitution itself has become more and more marginalized lately, by the men who swore to uphold it.

| Step 1. Help us recover our honor. There's an epidemic of cheating and shady behavior at all levels in society. Why? For one reason, because we have a perception (a true one) that people who are already rich can do anything they want to and get richer. Crack down on cheating rich people--CEOs, corporations, etc.--i.e., have the governmetn stop actively colluding with them, then, once that's cleaned up, make it clear in the media that that's what's going on, and then have some kind of clever advertising campaign encouraging people to stop cheating. (I love feeling like I have all the answers to society's ills, lol) |

The outward benefits would be things along the lines of no war ( no me against you ), no greed ( less ego to satisfy ), things like that. To move toward that, I suggest we concentrate on changing the structure of how we educate our children. Teach them more about how to meditate, or to put their thoughts under their control, instead of letting their thoughts control them. Have them learn not to be so attached and identified to their thoughts, so that they can break free of the unconscious patterns that have driven society for eons. So short answer for your project : Radical shift in how we educate our children.

| media problems, change in educational processes... two exceptionally good ones that i completely agree with. thanks for the input guys. i'm still looking for more, both big and small. don't forget we have up to 150 years to change (that's several generations). |
