Default Help finding a book...

I came across a post the other day. Someone recommended a book about two kings. One was selfish and the the other was selfless, but in the end, the ways of the selfish one prevails. I know that's vague but it was sort of along those lines. I thought it was a book by rand or Nietzche but cannot find anything. I tried searching the forums with guessing as many key words as I can. Hopefully the poster or someone who knows what I am talking about can help because I really want to read this book. It's sort of good versus evil, but the bigger picture shows that evil might be more practical for society.

could be Machiavelli - The Prince ?

fascinating read, the bible of realpolitik.

"Its essential contribution to modern political thought lies in Machiavelli's assertion of the then revolutionary idea that theological and moral imperatives have no place in the political arena. "It must be understood," Machiavelli avers, "that a prince ... cannot observe all of those virtues for which men are reputed good, because it is often necessary to act against mercy, against faith, against humanity, against frankness, against religion, in order to preserve the state."

No, it is not this book but I will definitely put it on the must read list as it sounds fascinating.
