Default Change the World. What to change?

Well, this is a spin off of Toasterwater's thread, can we change the world? The results so far are an overwhelming yes, with plently of people who are more than willing to go out and make a change.

So, this begs the question, what should we change first?

We have plenty of categories to choose from, each on interrelated in some form or another, but simply saying yes, I'd like to change the world falls slightly short of actually making the change. We can change politics, though that could potentially be the hardest thing to change. We could promote peace, which is my personal purpose, but if we run around handing out daisies, we get labeled as freaks and people wonder if we are a cult. Want to clean up the environment? Well, we can do that, but there are a lot of groups out there who claim to be pro-environmental, but are just covers for anti-corporate terrorism... We don't want to be mixed in with that crowd.

I say, we pick something concrete and leave politics behind. If we want to improve the environment, leave the GreenPeace tactics for the terrorists, and go out and produce equipment that is good for the environment. If we want to spread peace, we need to find peace within ourselves first. If we want to get rid of money, let's completely automate an industry so that people don't have to trade their time for pieces of printed paper, and have the time to work on developing their character instead. You can't be a theif if something is free, right?

That makes sense to me, I do have a question though, how could we coordinate something like this? It seems to me there would be two different systems, centralized and de- centralized. The first unless your aiming for a small, but very, very devoted core would have to be done through the internet. The second would be to encourage people to go out and do something good where they live.

Just my 2 cents:

I consider that all problems are caused by people, one way or another. Better to handle the cause point then to fix the effect of it over and over. Each person has their own unique set of mind, believes and purposes. It is those things that makes a person do what the person is doing. So in my opinion the right thing to do would be to improve the mind, believes and purposes of as many people as possible to a higher level.

Steves blog, this forum and the whole PD community is already doing this in some degree. I think we should reach out to different types of people and communities.

And on for example moral and ethics, I have found this non-profi-organization and booklet to be excellent. I have used it myself and helped my brother with it. Getting this booklet out to criminals I think would be a good action.

I think that would largely depend on each goal that we decide on. The organization would, of course, have to happen through the internet regardless of the scope of the project. If the projects are highly individual, such as community projects, then there would also be local organization as well.

The organization will fit the needs of the project... but that does bring up another question. When the first project is successful (an admittedly subjective interpretation of 'successful,' since we don't know what the first project is yet), and we want to start other projects, how would the link between each project be organized? Perhaps that would be where volunteers form the more devoted core group, and each project has a looser organization around them depending on their needs.

With the Games for Education movement, part of the goal is to demonstrate that an educational (and fun) game can deliver as strong a return on investment as the more standard and mainstream violence-ridden games. We're hoping this will show people that gamers are willing to buy games that revolve around something besides explicit violence.

The answer to the question, "What should we change first?", really lies in what your purpose in life is. I consider helping one person to see things more broadly a rippling effect that can do lots more.

This world is a projection of your thoughts.
The more you're thinking about good things, the more they will appear in your world.
If you want to change this world, change your thoughts.

Individually we could start by buying, The Secret movie as a Christmas/birthday/anniversay /or just a gift, for our friends, and family members.

It will open the discussion.
Try to keep it from being a debate about whether or not a person believes in the law of attraction, or not.
Try to gear the discussion on the promotion of the positive messege the movie is telling everyone.

Hold weekly meetings where friends, and family come together and have a group-intention. Say for 30 minutes, all focus on a specific thing, and the expansion of that. Say you start with LOVE.
Remember? "...The greatest of these, is love..."
Or start with forgiveness. Start with the fruits of the Holy Spirit, as taught by Jesus.

Make it a nice get together. Everyone bring a dish, a drink. Watch the secret together. Share. Build each other up. Like a support group.

Arrow Great stuff!

Hey guys, i like the way everyone in here is thinking. The main point of this thread seems to be organization. I am currently working transforming my website into a platform from which to organize all of this. If you check up on my first thread on this, you will see what im talking about.

I am excited because i see how many people are interested in this concept, but at the same time, i feel like im not moving fast enough. I have a really busy schedule, so I can not devote enough time just yet (this will change at the end of this calendar year). BUT- I am getting help, and I see this taking off well before I have enough time on my hands )

So, all that being said, I will soon post more info on how you can start helping, and how we can start organizing this.

If anyone has any questions for me, feel free to contact me by any method available here. (AIM, Yahoo Messenger, Email, This forum, Etc.)

Even if we wanted to do something together... I don't think we would agree in what to do and how...

Each time we raise the vibration levels of ourselves (and each other), we help the world. Personally, I'll be grateful for the peace and goodwill in the world.

Joy to you

I've thought about this for a few days, and now I think a great way to change the world for the better would be to help achieve the millenium goals!

Excellent idea Gerto, why should we re- invent the wheel? For those who aren't sure what he is saying, he is referring to the U.N.'s current goals for the year 2015.

If you keep doing the same thing you have always done you will get the same results you always got.

The idea of changing the world is doing something new.

What does changing the world mean?
You develop a new idea that scales big.

What is our problem?
We are enough people do develop ideas.
a) We have no organisational struture that allows something like this
b) You need commitment to change the world, forum topic like this doesn't produce that level of commitment.

We should discuss first the structure, then our Goals, our plan and last but not least we have to take action.

Talking first about Goals is not realy productive. We should talk first about how to develop a structured system that allows us to develop world-changing-ideas.
Fortunatly developing such a system is well, worldchanging

Pavlina has taken an interesting perspective on changing the world--change the people in it.

I would like to suggest the Getting Things Done Natural Planning Model:

(off the top of my head)
1. Define purpose and principles
2. Imagine wild success
3. Brainstorm
4. Organize brainstorm
5. What's the next action

If by organizational structure you mean some sort of program or something for group brainstorming, I'm sure we can find something. Then we can brainstorm potential goals and so forth.
