Default What Are Your Core Values?

I have spent a long time studying, writing, researching and presenting about why Personal Core Values are so important to the individual, couples, groups families, teams, cultures, and etc.. I have a strong belief that the more in-tune we are with our Core Values, the more synchronous our lives are.

Since I am fairly new to the forum experience, I am not sure what type of response I am to receive...but I wonder what you all would consider to be your Personal Core Values. Mine are:

Balance
Creativity
Integrity
Innovation
Family

I think to work from a common slate, look at this list and pick your top 5. I am curious to see if there are trends, similarities, etc. BUT, if yours are not on the list, feel free to make up your own! Do not any push from me to have to use the list :-) If you have your own, please use that! Steve Pavlina also has one on his blog that has been referred to in the past but I do not have the link for that.

My List

Thanks for taking part! I will keep track and post results as time passes!

Default Bore Values?

Being new to the forum, i am not sure If I have asked a question bit outside of the norm...if so -- I do apologize

Maybe the discussion has occurred before and I was not around to see it happen -- if so, please let me know.

Otherwise, i would still really enjoy hearing about peoples core values and why they are important to them. I will elaborate upon mine:

Balance - I strive to find natural balance like the symbolic balance of the Yin and the Yang. I find this balance through nature and quiet.

Creativity - Amazing how the most unique things can impact so greatly, a new twist on an old idea, a colorful way to see black and white...creativity is a constant revival of the soul.

Integrity - Say what you do, do what you say. That's it.

Innovation - To develop new learning, a new perspective, a lens to see the world as never seen before so that all potential can be engaged is my dream of innovation.

Family - Whether it be biological, chosen, communal, or even societal, family is the foundation of my life.

I look forward to others postings!
Leo

-Understanding
-Family
-Honesty
-Worthwhile Relationships
-Self-fulfillment

These is an epitomy of myself and who I am in person and in real life.

(i choose not to use an possessive words because these values cannot be possessed.)

Freedom is my #1 and the only one I really concern myself with. I love my kids but they're going to eventually lead their own lives

Hi Evergreen!

My core values are so far:

1.Integrity
2.Truth
3.Abundance Mentality/I am enough
4.Courage/Putting up with crap
5.Compassion
6.Love
7.Non-Judgement, Acceptance

These are never changing core values or I don't know if you can actually call them values because they come from understanding not from ego desire.
(Maybe frames is a better word.) And they are extremely difficult to attain.
For example if you don't practice awareness or truth, you might get caught up in stupidities and your integrity can bring non-integrity along with it.
Maybe I myself will not be able to get to love consciousness, but I think if you understand and live them you will get better and better and eventually get very astonishing results. I try to act upon them whether my personality values are humor, family, success etc.

After that I would put my priorities/purposes or qualities which are on the level of personality. They change in contrary to core values and are basically what lights my heart on fire at that time or what I love and care for.
There would be something like learning new things, fun activities, business, family etc.
But core values must precede them, because principle centeredness is a deeper and thus a more effective or beautiful way of dealing with life.
For example: Your level of integrity or the I am enough frame will determine how your familiy life is going to be way more than just making it a priority.

This is my understanding so far, hopefully i could help.

It's really interesting to see what everyone's core values are here.

I've spent a lot of time meditating on my personal values and used to actually start every day take a few minutes to meditate on each one. It is a great way to start your day and to make sure you stay on track only doing things that are in alignment with your values.

Here is my personal list:

1. Clarity / Balance
2. Authenticity
3. Confidence
4. Health / Fitness
5. Excellence / Mastery
6. Love / Devotion
7. Productivity / Drive
8. Integrity / Honesty
9. Discipline / Persistence
10. Compassion
11. Growth
12. Focus

I just wanted to add something really quickly.

I created this value list about 9 months ago, and would meditate on it daily for a good 3 months in a row every morning. I stopped doing this about 6 months ago.

2 months ago, I started my blog on personal development. I thought it would be a great idea for my tagline to express what the 3 top values were for the mission of my sites purpose. I didn't refer to my personal value list at all, as I said, it had been several months since I'd even looked at it. Somehow though, those values must have become ingrained in me, because I happened to pick the top 3 values on my list for the tagline of my blog. Strange huh?

Coincidence? I don't think so. Divine? Perhaps. =)

I was trying to summarize it to a few words. I think that it all comes down to freedom. Freedom to do and be and live whatever way and as much as you want to.

If i had this sort of freedom, i would need nothing else. I'm constantly pursuing it, i hope some day i'll achieve it.

If I had to define the one, ultimate value:

Authenticity.

I strive for authenticity in everything I do. That means I'm going for that "comfortable in my skin, everytime, everywhere, in every way" feeling.

Yeah, that's a good shot.

I think it's authenticity also, because what can we be here for if it's not discovering who we are? Nobody really knows who he is. And isn't this similar to freedom, because you can't really be free if you don't know who you are right?

So I think even the value of love must be second, because without freedom, love is only false, it is not unconditional thus not really love.
